Such changes in the structure of the ergonomics/human factors profession indeed demand different evaluation methodologies. A powerful network of individuals, for example, who can, and do, call for human factors input in a timely manner can help an enterprise more than a number of individually successful project outcomes. Audit programs are one of the ways in which such evaluations can be made, allowing a company to focus its human factors resources most effectively. They can also be used in a prospective, rather than retrospective, manner to help quantify the needs of the company for ergonomics/human factors. Finally, they can be used to determine which divisions, plants, departments, or even product fines are in most need of ergonomics input. 

This paper aims at examining the implementation of the platform in a digital system design course in one of the universities, with focus on students achievements and motivation, through the lens of a comprehensive evaluation methodology that was developed within the project.

Some aspects of embedded engineering education have been the subject of the European research project FP7-1CT-2011-8/317882 Embedded Engineering Learning Platform. The five achieved outcomes—unified platform, basic set of exercises, augmented reality interface, ranote laboratory, and evaluation methodology with tools—can be a valuable contribution for the establishment of an embe ed engineering profile. 

Human error probabilities can also be estimated using methodologies and techniques originally developed in the nuclear industry. A number of different models are available (Swain, Comparative Evaluation of Methods for Human Reliability Analysis, GRS Project RS 688, 1988). This estimation process should be done with great care, as many factors can affect the reliability of the estimates. Methodologies using expert opinion to obtain failure rate and probability estimates have also been used where there is sparse or inappropriate data. 

The case studies that follow have mainly come from live product development projects in industry. Whilst not all case studies require the methodology to predict an absolute capability, a common way of applying CA is by evaluating and comparing a number of design schemes and selecting the one with the most acceptable performance measure, either estimated Cp, assembly risk or failure cost. In some cases, commercial confidence precludes the inclusion of detailed drawings of the components used in the analyses. CA has been used in industry in a number of different ways. Several well-docnmented methodologies for economic evaluation of pollution prevention projects are pnblicly available. Some have been critically reviewed (Tellus Insti-tnte, 1991). 

Raw materials, process streams, products and waste of any new process that has reached the pilot or production plant stage shall be reviewed and evaluated to determine if any potential reactive chemical hazards are involved. The GPM process fGlobal Project Methodology) requires an evaluation of the need to complete a project version review of the RC/PHA (Reactive Chemicals Process Hazard Assessment) review. This evaluation and recommendation is to be done by a member of the Process Safety Technology Center organization and should follow the RC/PHA protocol. 

To evaluate adherence to the selected methodology, quality checkpoints (e g., audits) are conducted during the project. Considering Figure 2-3 as an example, each event associated when the SLC is a checkpoint when quality checks can be conducted. 

Dr. Cecchi is also involved in Teaching of Experimental Sciences and Scientific Master Degrees, two projects whose purposes are, respectively, to improve the methodologies of teaching physical sciences and to encourage students to study scientific subjects. She is the author of more than 50 research articles, reviews, congress lectures, and other communications and was the corresponding author of an article that received an award from the Italian Research Evaluation Panel.
