Program at the University

The History of Chemistry Program at the University of Wisconsin. Badger Chemist, no. 14, 14-16 (1967). [Pg.199]

The experiments were done at the Farm Facility of the Agroecology Program at the University of California at Santa Cruz, where there are facilities for laboratory, greenhouse, and field research. The climate is Mediterranean, and averages 40 inches of rainfall annually. [Pg.263]

Berlyn Rose Mellein received her BS in chemical engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2003, before joining the graduate program at the University of Notre Dame. She earned her MS in chemical engineering in 2007 and anticipates completion of her PhD degree in 2008. [Pg.405]

Use perfluorocarbon as a web-search keyword and you willfind references, most of them technical, to a variety of medical and other uses for liquidperfiuorocarbons. The site listed here is that of the Liquid Ventilation Program at the University of Michigan. Scroll to the bottom of the home pagefor a list of useful links. [Pg.251]

A promising and extremely interesting new area of research is the synthesis of perfluoropolyethers by the reaction of elemental fluorine with hydrocarbon polyethers (34, 35). An extensive recent research program at the University of Texas at Austin has succeeded in establishing the generality of this approach. In the initial study, polyethylene oxide was reacted with elemental fluorine under... [Pg.178]

Acknowledgement is made to the Separations Research Program at the University... [Pg.50]

The author extends his undying respect to the honorable Byron L. Dorgan, the U.S. senator from North Dakota, and to the honorable John Hoeven, the governor of North Dakota, for extending arms of friendship whenever needed to support the author s numerous research programs at the University of North Dakota. [Pg.715]

LAWRENCE M. EPSTEIN started his career as a chemical engineer, then earned his M.S. in 1952 and Ph.D. in 1955 from Polytechnic University in the field of physical chemistry. He was Associate Professor and supervisor of the General Chemistry program at the University of Pittsburgh until he retired in 1986. [Pg.3]

Considerable research is underway by various institutions and agencies and by industry on the physiological and toxicological effects of smoke and gaseous products. Of particular note are the extensive research programs at the University of Utah under the direction on I. N. Einhorn (44,48), at Johns Hopkins University under R. M. Fristrom (38,50), and at the National Bureau of Standards under M. M. Birky (51). [Pg.99]

Acknowledgment is made to the Donors of the Petroleum Research Fund, administered by the American Chemical Society, for partial support of this work. Further support is acknowledged from the Dow Chemical Company Foundation and the Separations Research Program at The University of Texas. [Pg.54]

The resistance to ozone-induced tipburn in onions mentioned earlier is being incorporated into commercial onion varieties primarily for the Midwest at the University of Wisconsin (12). In a program at the University of Tennessee, dark green vigorous trees have been selected in stands of eastern white pine in which most trees have died because of sensitivity to ozone, S02, and automobile exhaust constituents. Crosses have been made to determine the genetics of resistance, and a formal breeding orchard of resistant trees has been established (13). [Pg.91]

The objectives of this work can be illustrated by reference to the program at the University of East Anglia over the years 1965-1980. [Pg.1]

The experimental program at the University of Sussex (1970-present) of reactivity in the gas phase (involving formation of side-chain car-bocations) has, in addition to the points already mentioned, demonstrated the need to take hydrogen bonding into account for both ir-deficient and TT-excessive heteroaromatics, showing that this can in some cases markedly alter the reactivity. [Pg.2]

Using data from the Cooperative Institutional Research program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), in a sample of former students who attended over 184 different institutions, students were asked to report the racial makeup of their current friends, neighborhoods, and workplace. Students who attended more diverse colleges (where at least 25 percent were students of color) had more diverse friendship groups, lived in more diverse neighborhoods, and worked in places that had more diverse... [Pg.19]

Currently the synthesis program at the University of Toronto, running on an IBM 3033 computer, requires about four milliseconds to generate the reactant B , let us say that will give rise to a product A. If Bf consists of two coreactants the time will be slightly more. If the molecules have simple structures, such as those seen in elementary organic chemistry textbooks, then the time could be as little as half a millisecond. [Pg.114]

S. V. Nair acknowledges NSF Grant MSS-9201625 and also the support of Tsung-Ju Gwo who helped with the preparation of this manuscript. Many portions of this chapter are also based on Gwo s doctoral thesis research at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Appropriate citations of his work appear in the text. J. L. Bassani acknowledges the support of NSF under grant DMR 88-06966 and the NSF/MRL program at the University of Pennsylvania under grant DMR 88-19885. [Pg.363]

JoEllen Patterson, PhD, is a Professor in the Marital and Family Therapy Program at the University of San Diego. She is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Besides receiving a Rotary International Scholarship to work at Cambridge University, Dr. Patterson has had two Fulbright Scholarships to work in Norway and New Zealand. She serves on the editorial board for Family Systems and Health and the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy. This is her third book. [Pg.318]

Ray Cefola, Pharm.D., and Colleen Culley, Pharm.D., are recognized for contributing to the online competency program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. [Pg.228]

Nobody Left Behind Program at the University of Kansas. Information on the ongoing research project to investigate 30 randomly selected counties, cities, or boroughs in the United States that have recently experienced a natural or man-made disaster in order to study impacts on persons with mobility impairments. The Web site has an extensive resource list at http //rtcil. org/NLB home.htm... [Pg.319]

We would also like to thank Imperial Oil Enterprises Limited for a grant in partial support of the Sulfur Chemistry Program at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. [Pg.193]

Performance tests are usually run at total reflux with several standard test mixtures. The following four figures portray total reflux data taken at the Separations Research Program at the University of Texas at Austin. The test mixture is cyclohexane/n-heptane. Figures 13.48 and 13.49 are taken from Olujic et al. (2003) and Figures 13.50 and 13.51 are from Olujic et al. (2000). [Pg.473]

The samples were analyzed on the VG TofSpec-SE MALDI TOP mass spectrometer in the reflectron mode with positive ion detection. The samples were spotted on the sample plate in acetonitrile water (60 40) or chloroform methanohTFA (1 1 0.1) mixture plus ammonium suliate on alpha-C (a-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid) matrix. The ionization of the samples was carried out with Nd YAG laser at 355 nm or nitrogen laser at 337 nm. Some of the fractions were analyzed by SIMS on a Kratos 890 mass spectrometer equipped with a Phrasor Scientific SIMS source. The mass spectral data were analyzed by the MSFIT program at the University of California, San Francisco. [Pg.473]
