Fluorine elements

The total chemical shift range is over 1000 ppm, so that although fluorine-element coupling constants are relatively large the spectra are generally relatively easy to interpret. [Pg.62]

According to the elemental analysis of allylated PCTFE (C, 34.48% H, 2.32% Cl, 13.28% F, 46.97%), the combined percentage for carbon, hydrogen, chlorine, and fluorine elements was 97.05. In addition, its IR spectrum (Figure 4) clearly showed the presence of the allyl moiety at 3087 (=CH stretching), 2982, 2886 (CH stretching) and 1643 (C=C stretching) cm-< with concomitant loss of the chloride band at 972 cm-i. Therefore, based on both IR and elemental analyses, we were confident that the addition of PCTFE across the double bond of allyltributyltin was clean, and the subsequent loss of tributyltin species, perhaps as a radical, resulted in allylated PCTFE. [Pg.140]

Film preparation All filtered, doped polyaniline salt and blend solutions were solution cast onto a Teflon coated glass substrate. They were covered with a glass dish to allow for slow evaporation (over a period of 24 hours) of the solvent at room temperature. HFIP, with a boiling point of 60 "C, allows gentle stripping at room temperature. All films were peeled off the Teflon tape substrate and (Med in a dynamic vacuum oven at 75 C for approximately 24 hours. From fluorine elemental analysis, percent residual HFIP solvent in films was less than 0.5% (wt/wt). This casting process from HFIP produced robust, free standing and solvent f e polyaniline / nylon blend films. [Pg.33]

The 1,1-dihydroperfluorobutylhydroxyethyl cellulose 9 is prepared by reaction of a HEC-NAOH slurry with 1,1-dihydroperfluorobutyltosylate (PFBOTs) 7 at 50 °C in various solvents including dioxane (DOX), isopropylalcohol (IPA) and triethylamine (TEA). The incorporation of perfluorocarbon modifier ([modifier]/[AGU]) into the substrate polymer was evaluated from fluorine elemental analysis in the case of 9-1 and 9-3 and was found to be 14.2 and 3.6 mole%, respectively (Table 7.8). However, with the exception of very few samples (9-6 and 9-9) the products were generally insoluble... [Pg.109]

Like fluorine, elemental chlorine is too aggressive to be employed for the chlorination of polar organometallics (Scheme 1-73). Suitable substitutes are hexachloro-ethane and A/ chlorosuccinimide. Typically yields range from 60% to... [Pg.58]
