The resulting white solid is collected on a filter, air dried, redissolved in 2,500 parts water at 95°C and the resulting solution treated with decolorizing charcoal and clarified by filtration. The cooled filtrate is made alkaline with ammonia and the product, crude 3-(1-piperidyl)-Tcyclohexyl-1-phenyl-1-propanol is collected. The hydrochloride melts with decomposition in ten seconds in a bath held at 258.5°C. The alcohol melts at 114.3° to 115.0°C, according to U.S. Patent 2,716,121. [Pg.1542]

Kepro [Kemira process] A process for recovering valuable products from municipal sewage sludge. It makes four products crude iron phosphate, a biofuel, water treatment chemicals, and a carbon source for denitrification in the sewage plant. Developed by Kemira Chemicals in the 1990s and first installed in Helsingboig, Sweden... [Pg.153]

The produced fluids and gases are typically directed into separation vessels. Under the influence of gravity, pressure, heat, retention times, and sometimes electrical fields, separation of the various phases of gas, oil, and water occurs so that they can be drawn off in separate streams. Suspended solids such as sediment and salt will also be removed. Deadly hydrogen sulfide (H2S), is sometimes also encountered, which is extracted simultaneously with the petroleum production. Crude oil containing H2S can be shipped by pipeline and used as a refinery feed but it is undesirable for tanker or long pipeline transport. The normal commercial concentration of impurities in crude oil sales is usually less than 0.5% BS W (Basic Sediment and Water) and 10 Ptb (Pounds of salt per 1,000 barrels of oil). The produced liquids and gases are then transported to a gas plant or refinery by truck, railroad tank car, ship, or pipeline. Large oil field areas normally have direct outlets to major, common-carrier pipelines. [Pg.11]

During the kraft pulping process, the first step in making hundreds of paper products, crude tall oil is obtained from the alkaline material by acidifying it with sulfuric acid. The crude tall oil is then converted through dehydration, dry distillation, and finally the fractionation of the vaporized tall oil compounds. Fatty acids, rosin acids, and neutral materials make up tall oil. [Pg.224]

The third way of coal pipelining intensification supposes using the carrier liquid different than water. Oil products (crude oil, residual fuel oil, kerosene, fuel or Diesel oil and various mineral oils) or hydrocarbons (methanol, ethanol, carbonic acid, and other liquid organic compositions) can be used as a carrier liquid. [Pg.374]

In search of new natural products, crude extracts are classically subjected to multi-step work-up and isolation procedures which include various separation methods (besides HPLC, for instance, column, gel or counter-current chromatography) in order to obtain pure compounds which are then structurally elucidated by using off-line spectroscopic methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. [Pg.111]

Please note the flows in Fig. 4.15, with the production crude first entering the degasser vessel to flash off the gas and bring it to atmospheric pressure. Then the liquid phase, oil and water, enters the first of two tanks in series flow. All flows shown from the degasser vessel to the oil dehydrator tank are gravity flows. There are no pumps between these vessels and tanks. [Pg.150]

Acceptance of DDG and DDGS products as animal feed supplements is limited by the variable "quality" of DDG and DDGS among ethanol plants and the relatively low crude protein content (4). This variability is caused by differing amounts of residual starch and crude protein in DG products. Crude protein content depends in part on preserving protein during the drying step. A study conducted by the Department of Animal... [Pg.1140]

Also, we hasten to point out that none of the product crudes or aqueous by-products studied here are purported to necessarily represent any product or by-product from a likely, commercial scale process. These samples are deemed to provide reasonable representations for the purpose of methods development. [Pg.294]

The solid is purified using column chromatography on neutral alumina using diethyl ether and petroleum ether (1 1) to elute the product. The solid product (crude yield 8.0 g, 100%) is recrystallized from diethyl ether/petroleum ether (60-80 fraction) to give white crystals (m.p. 73.5-76 C). [Pg.172]

Hence, we conducted the present preliminary work of separating production crude into gross fractions at lower temperatures. Each fraction is separately examined for interfacial tension and associated properties. [Pg.111]
