Polyethylene glycol sulfate

Etherase cleavage of the ethoxylate moiety at any of the ethox-amers to produce glycol ether sulfates with varying EO number. The polyethylene glycol sulfate is further oxidized to the carboxy-... [Pg.545]

For some nonionic, nonpolar polymers, such as polyethylene glycols, normal chromatograms can be obtained by using distilled water. Some more polar nonionic polymers exhibit abnormal peak shapes or minor peaks near the void volume when eluted with distilled water due to ionic interactions between the sample and the charged groups on the resin surface. To eliminate ionic interactions, a neutral salt, such as sodium nitrate or sodium sulfate, is added to the aqueous eluent. Generally, a salt concentration of 0.1-0.5 M is sufficient to overcome undesired ionic interactions. [Pg.112]

When ethoxylated nonylphenol and polyethylene glycol is treated with a mixture of H2S04 and H3P04 and neutralized with an alkali metal hydroxide or amine, surfactants containing sulfate esters and phosphate esters are obtained which cause little corrosion of metals such as surfaces of laundering equipments and automobiles [55]. [Pg.563]

The precipitation method of separation involves the addition of salts such as ammonium sulfate or solvents such as polyethylene glycol to the reagent mixture to cause precipitation of the large molecular weight bound species. These methods of precipitation lack specificity and work well only when there is a large difference between the molecular weight of the material being measured and that of the bound complex of it. [Pg.60]

Melt the stearyl alcohol and white petrolatum (steam bath) and warm to about 75°C. Heat the water to 75°C and add the sodium lauryl sulfate, propylene glycol, methylparaben, and propylparaben. Add the aqueous phase and stir until congealed. IV. Water-soluble ointment (polyethylene glycol ointment, USP 14) Polyethylene glycol 4000 (Carbowax 4000) 50%... [Pg.224]

Surfactants may also influence the quality and thickness of the deposited films. Popescu et al.30 prepared CBD CdS films in the presence of surfactants such as polyethylene glycol or ether sulfate, at temperatures of 40-60 °C. They... [Pg.202]

An aqueous biphasic system consisting of two immiscible liquid phases (i.e., two separate distinct layers) can be used to separate a particular component such as certain heavy metals from contaminated soil. A combination of phases such as a water-soluble polymer (e.g., polyethylene glycol) phase and a concentrated aqueous salt solution (e.g., sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate, or sodium phosphate) phase can comprise a biphasic system. Aqueous biphasic systems are... [Pg.369]

The values given above pertain to solution on reconstitution of one flavor pack. When dissolved in sufficient water to make 4 L, the final solution contains 125 mEq/L sodium, 10 mEq/L potassium, 20 mEq/L bicarbonate, 80 mEq/L sulfate, 35 mEq/L chloride, and 18 mEq/L polyethylene glycol 3350. The reconstituted solution is isos-motic and has a mild, salty taste. Colyte Flavor Packs are available in citrus berry, lemon lime, cherry, and pineapple. This preparation can be used without the Colyte Flavor Packs and is administered orally or via a nasogastric tube. Each Citrus Berry Flavor Pack (3.22 g) contains hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2910, citrus berry powder,... [Pg.120]
