The LCHPP project is structured in 3 distinct phases. Phase I is the engineering study and feasibility phase, which is scheduled to be completed in October 2002. A business plan and economic model will be developed as part of Phase I and will be updated as required during Phases II and III. Phase II is the system detail design, tooling development and prototype phase and is currently scheduled to begin in December 2002. Phase III is... [Pg.103]

The planning and construction of generation and transmission facilities by utilities came to a virtual halt. With no guaranteed market, no control over the use of their transmission networks, no assurance of stranded investment recovery, and no assurance of federal remedial treatment, the economic structure of utility planning and construction of generation facilities basically stopped in place. [Pg.1202]

The development effort is largely a engineering activity requiring a great deal of planning. This planning requires increased interaction of multiple engineering disciplines to assure that the wells are drilled, completed and produced in a safe, efficient and economical manner. [Pg.366]

Urban, rural and industrial developments may have profound effects on the surrounding environment. Such effects can defeat the object of development, in that the negative environmental impact may outweigh the benefits. In the case of natural resources, inappropriate development may even destroy the resource base. If environmental matters are accorded adequate consideration during the planning and management of development programs and projects it is possible for pollutants to be assimilated. As a result, the whole development can be accommodated by the environment in such a way that adverse effects are minimized and the economic and social benefits of development are maximized. [Pg.38]

The benefits to be accrued from the implementation of a program of planned maintenance can be found in the efficient and economical operation of the plant and equipment and the utilization of resources (i.e. plant and equipment and manpower) while also maintaining a sound standard of safe working and environmental conditions for operators, other occupants and employees within the workplace. Maintenance systems vary, depending on the location of the plant and equipment and/or company policy. Systems can range from the complete maintenance of plant and equipment using all available methods to their replacement on failure. To meet the company s requirements it is then necessary to decide on the maintenance system that provides the most satisfactory benefits overall. [Pg.784]

At the strategic level, boiler water treatment practice is essentially the planned, actioned, and documented management of the waterside of pre-boiler, boiler, and post-boiler plant equipment and systems. A key objective is to identify, obtain, and maintain operational and economic benefits for the plant owners, including maintaining the cleanliness and structural integrity of the boiler, its various water-steam cycle auxiliaries, and other components for a specified (long-term) period and to some quantifiable standard. [Pg.131]
