Sample preparation must also be compatible with the chromatographic separation and detection method. The analyte concentration in the extract is one obvious example of this since it must be sufficiently large that the analytical measurement can provide sufficient signal to permit acceptable levels of accuracy and precision. Stability of the anal5d e during the sample preparation procedure, as well as in the final extract, is another concern that should be considered from the earliest stages of method development. Again, a proper investigation of this aspect must await testing of the method with analyte in matrix but some indications can be obtained using clean solutions of analytical standard, e.g., thermal stability, chemical stability in acidic or basic solutions etc., and such information can be used to exclude some possible candidates for the sample preparation technique. 

The preceding discussion has tried to emphasize the importance of considering some important parameters at the earliest stages of development of a sample preparation method. These parameters are important not only for the sample preparation step itself but for its compatibUity with the other steps of the overall analytical method.

In evaluating options for obtaining the energy needed to sustain world economic progress in the coming years, it is important to consider the full spectrum of risks to the environment and to human health that each option may create or reduce. In order to evaluate options, it is important to understand what could be done to limit the uncertainty, especially when this radically changes the options. Obviously not all of these questions can be answered in one thesis. This is a thesis about treatment, a somewhat fundamental study about what we can achieve with treatment now and what inhibits treatment efficiency. The focus is on treatment by alternative membrane processes. What is different is the attempt to compare and evaluate options on the basis of productivity (capital and maintenance cost), energjf consumption and chemical requirements. The results apply to the water that needs to be treated to achieve specified standards that part of drinking water which cannot be replaced with gre) water. The results cannot replace a rethinking and optimisation of water usage and demand management. 

Here we will discuss three different methods that you can use to choose the best economical alternative from many options. The three methods are commonly referred to as (1) present worth (PW) or present cost analysis, (2) annual worth (AW) or annual cost analysis, and (3) future worth (PW) or future cost analysis. When these methods are applied to a problem, they all lead to the same conclusion. So in practice, you need only apply one of these methods to evaluate options however, in order to show you the details of these procedures, we will apply all of these methods to the preceding problem. 

For all the streams in the PFD the specifications, the composition, the flow rate, and the temperature and pressure, are available. Two options for the streams with CO2 as the major fractions are being evaluated.
