Office chairs

Glass-filled, toughened polyethylene terephthalate) (PET) resins can be readily moulded into highly impact-resistant structural parts for appliances and automotive components. The PET-based compounds are also suitable for construction (e.g. as structural members), equipment housings (e.g. printer and copier parts), agricultural applications (e.g. mower and tractor engine covers), materials handling (e.g. pallets and trays), furniture (e.g. office chair bases), as well as electrical and electronic applications. 

Such ribbing can also be seen on the underside of the starfish-shaped base mouldings of office chairs, in which the seat swivels on a vertical gas-strut suspension (Fig. 13.15). If the seat is rocked, bending loads are applied to some of the beams any significant beam torsion could cause the chair to become unstable. There are extra reinforcing ribs where a shaft is inserted for the caster wheel at the beam end, and at the hub around the moulded-in metal suspension tube.

Acquire a defunct office chair with a plastic moulded base as in figure 13.15. With a torque wrench, measure the torsional stiffness of one of the legs, and the torsional strength (the torque at which collapse occurs). Relate these to the possible loads if a 100 kg person attempts to tip the chair back onto one leg.

This also applies, for example, to the soft PVC mats made for roller-mounted office chairs. These thick foil mats, about 1 m in size, emit plasticizers into the breathing air of the desk worker over a period of months. Since very few low-emission or emission-free products are available, the only piece of advice worth following is to tmpack the carpet protection mats and leave them exposed to the sun on the balcony for three months before using them.

An adjustable office chair that allows variation for seat height, seat depth, seat width, lumbar support, backrest, armrests, and the ability to swivel. These adjustments increase comfort and positioning in supported, neutral positions. To reduce the risk of work-related injuries from long periods of time spent at a desk or on a computer. The blends find use in a broad range of applications, viz., automotive (stone and splash guards, under-the-hood moldings, seals, hoses, tubes, clips, fasteners, fuel doOTS, gears), appliances, spOTt (e.g., ski bindings, roller skates), business equipment, consumer products (office chair seats, housings, casters, wheels, rollers, pulleys, gears), etc. 

The support system for chairs is important for safety. Office chairs that move around and have only four legs and casters can tip quite easily. Most office chairs have five support legs and casters to improve stability.

Copolymerised PP gives a softer feel to film and fibre products compared to homopolymers. However, PP copolymers are more expensive than the homopolymers (see Table 8). Typical applications of copolymerised PP are battery cases, bumper filler supports, interior trim, glove boxes, package trays and window mouldings, video cassette boxes, office chairs, disposable containers, boxes and appliance housings.

Back injuries are also caused by improper lifting and ergonomically incorrect office chairs. To avoid these injuries, employees should be instructed in proper lifting techniques and provided with ergonomically correct office equipment. 

The researcher explained all the procedures of the task to be performed to the subjects before every testing. The subjects sat on the standard office chair and the computer was placed on the standard computer table. They were instructed to carry out the typing activity for 30 seconds prior to the measurement of first trial to ensure that all the signals registered correctly [9]. The subjects were instructed to type at their optimal speed, a given test paragraph, in order to standardize the muscle activation of measured forearm muscle.
