Laminated panels

Secondary Treatments and Uses. Insulation boards normally have few secondary treatments. Some boards may receive a coating of primer and others may be laminated into panels of several thicknesses. Insulation boards are used for economical, insulative wall paneling, ceiling tiles, bulletin boards, and similar uses. Laminated panels are used for insulative panels, usually as roof decking or insulation under built-up roofing. [Pg.386]

Flat laminated panels are manufactured using fluorinated sheet substrates. The manufacturing of these test panels simulates the production process used to manufacture the fiberglass-reinforced pipes. The BS6464 test prescribes a minimum adhesive shear and peel strength of 7 MPa and 7 N/mm, respectively. Representative values for both tests are given in Tables 16.9 and 16.10 below. [Pg.253]

Anti-fouling tests were carried out on brush coated plastic laminate panels which had been given a primary coating of anti-corrosion paint. Performance was measured by visual observations of the panels after prolonged immersion (4 - 12 months) in a known high-fouling estuarine environment. [Pg.332]

Hot-melt spray adhesives will bond successfully carpets, fabrics, laminating panels, metals (both painted and unpainted), and both polyethylene and polypropylene film and sheet. Two important commercial uses at the time of writing are bonding sleeves of low-density polyethylene to ductile iron pipes and bonding sound-deadening materials and carpets to the floors of motor cars. [Pg.107]

A limited amount of experimentation was made with plywood and laminated panels. These experiments used the same ammonium lignosulfonate/poly(furfuryl alcohol) resin or monomer systems, with H2O2 activation, maleic acid as catalyst, and Douglas-fir veneer. A dry wood failure of 100% was obtained with plywood (83% and 95% wet, after vacuum-pressure soak), with dry shear strength of 1135 psi for parallel laminated panel made with ammonium lignosulfonate-furfuryl alcohol (525 psi wet), and of 1640 psi for the one made using ammonium lignosulfonate/furfuryl alcohol resin (650 psi wet). [Pg.367]

Laminate panels were fabricated by means of compression molding in its molten state from a sheet of pre-forming by lay-up of sixth plys before and after thermo-chemical treatment and EB irradiation, respectively. [Pg.206]

For the three-point bending test of the sixth plys laminate panels, the flexural strength of the PTFE / FP composite was about 2.9 times higher than that of the PTFE composite. Moreover, the flexural modulus of the PTFE / FP... [Pg.211]

Table III shows the flexural properties of RX-PTFE composite with an EB dose of 500 kGy and SX-PTFE composite (fluorinated-pitch 1.8 wt% additive) with an EB dose of 500 kGy. For the three-point bending test of the sixth plys laminate panels, the flexural strength of SX-PTFE composite was about 1.1 times higher than that of the RX-PTFE composite. The flexural modulus of SX-PTFE composite was about 1.3 times higher than that of RX-PTFE composite. It was found that the flexural properties of SX-PTFE were improved, compared with RX-PTFE composite. The use of phenolics in communications developed in the next few years with such objects as telephone handsets. With the development of radios, phenolics found use in laminated panels, molded dials, and coil forms. Phonograph records became a large market with the development by Aylsworth of the use of hexamethylenetetramine as a curing agent for the nonheat-reactive novolak-type phenolics. [Pg.1143]

Roller, Curtain and Spray Coatings for Laminated Panels and Films (Thin-coat). [Pg.60]

Laminated panels which are to be given an open-pored coating are first primed and sanded. [Pg.60]

In present-day high-speed assembly line operations, adhesives are applied robotically. The adhesive bead is apphed quickly and evenly to parts on a conveyor line just prior to being fitted. These operations, especially the need to handle the adhered substrates soon after assembly, demand fast-curing adhesive systems [65]. Two-component adhesives are used to bond metals to plastics in automobiles, to laminate panels in the construction industry, to laminate foams to textiles, to laminate plastic films together, and to bond poly(vinyhdene chloride) films to wood for furniture. A commercial waterborne two-component adhesive is sold by Ashland under the trademark ISOSET. This system is used for exterior sandwich panels by recreational vehicle manufacturers and is composed of a water-emulsiliable isocyanate and a hydroxy-functionalized emulsion latex. [Pg.707]

Adhesion promoters include the substances that create close physical and/or chemical bonds between two substrates [108]. The substrates to be cormected are fibrous reinforcing or particulate fillers on the one hand and plastics or metals on the other. The adhesion promoters always form bridges between the interfaces of the two components. For example, adhesion promoter resins based on styrene/butadiene alloys serve as adhesive layers for laminating panels and coextrusion of foils made of styrene polymers with polyolefins, PC, PMMA, and PA [30]. [Pg.120]
