Line Assembly

Real Time Radiography (RTR) is an advanced method of radiography in which the image is formed while the job is exposed to ionising radiation. RTR is often applied to objects on assembly lines for rapid inspection. Accept-or-reject decisions may be made immediately without the delay or expense of film development. The main advantages of RTR are thus, reduction in inspection cost and processing time. 

For these reasons, CEC and DOE concluded that the only cost-effective method of getting alcohol fueled vehicles would be from original equipment manufacturers (OEM). Vehicles produced on the assembly line would have lower unit costs. The OEM could design and ensure the success and durabihty of the emission control equipment.

The reason for this requirement is so that data from the customer can be transmitted quickly and reliably. The customer may need to change quantities and delivery dates due to variations in production. This does not mean the changes will always be to shorten delivery times but on occasions the delivery times may need to be extended owing to problems on the assembly line or as a result of problems with other suppliers. The customer may not have made provision to store your product so urgently needs to be able to inform you to hold or advance deliveries.

Automobile companies are major users of just-in-time methods, coordinating the delivery of thousands of parts from many different suppliers. A transportation delay of a few hours for one part could shut down an assembly line for half a day. 

As to the dollar-value of the Arsenal, its facilities are valued at over 500,000,000. The nature of these facilities varies, from the conventional to the nuclear. Conventional ammunition production lines, control laboratories and inspection systems are maintained in stand-by and are occasionally used in experimental or pilot-lot production. Nuclear weapons ammunition, components and devices are developed and produced in the. necessarily special research laboratories, proof-testing facilities and production and pilot assembly lines...

Media publicity has emphasized the introduction of robotic devices for mass production, including the automation of automotive assembly lines and the production of rubber goods, such as belts eind hose. Instrumentation for sensing mechanical motion and the subsequent control of robotic devices provides for challenging applications of numerical control strategies. 

The most complex automated systems are used almost exclusively by centralized HTS operations in large pharmaceutical companies and are referred to as ultra HTS (uHTS) platforms. They typically consist of the same four functional instruments, but have the capacity to process several hundred plates per extended workday. They often incorporate a modular design philosophy with multiple duplicate instruments for enhanced capacity that offer some functional redundancy. The mechanism for moving plates from one instrument module to another is often, but not always, a continuous track-way that resembles an industrial assembly line rather than the robotic arm typically used in a workcell system [5-8],...

Applications. Ultraviolet detectors are ideally suited for applications where rapidly developing fire can occur in a relatively open area. UV detectors can be used to monitor ammunition assembly lines, gunpowder troughs, or open areas that are stocked with hazardous materials. These detectors are not typically affected by extremes of temperature or pressure, adverse weather conditions, high humidity, nor are they sensitive to solar radiation. 

The EV1 assembly line was in the old Buick Reatta plant, next to the much larger and more automated facility that assembled Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire convertibles. About 30 employees essentially hand built the cars on the line and traded off tasks.
