Keywords RATES

Following the keyword RATES, reactions rates and mathematical equations are listed from different references to describe the kinetics of K-feldspar, albite, calcite, pyrite, organic carbon, and pyrolusite reactions. Again, these entries have to be seen as examples that often have to be replaced or adjusted by site-specific data. [Pg.80]

As reaction rates can be fitted mathematically in very different manners, there is an option (and need) in PHREEQC to declare any mathematical term in the form of a little BASIC program within the keyword RATES as will be shown in the following example of a time-dependent calcite dissolution ... [Pg.100]

Further examples can be found as already quoted in chapter 2.1.4.2 for K-feldspar, albite, calcite, pyrite, organic carbon and pyrolusite in the data set PHREEQC.dat or WATEQ4F.dat with the keyword RATES. There, all parameters are marked as comments by means of the sign in the block KINETICS. [Pg.102]

The BASIC code can be used within the keyword RATES, but also for USER GRAPH, USER PRINT and USER-PUNCH and always occurs between the commands... [Pg.103]

Rates are most often expressed as unit rates. The keyword for rates is per. Speed is known as miles per hour and is actually a rate that means miles per one hour. In the same way, unit price, dollars per pound means dollars per one pound. Unit rates are easier to work with than other ratios, because the denominator is always 1, and so the denominator has no effect when performing cross-multiplication. [Pg.112]

For kinetic modeling in PHREEQC two keywords are necessary KINETICS n (n = number of SOLUTION, for which the kinetics shall be calculated) and RATES. For both keywords, a rate name has to be entered, e g. calcite when the dissolution of calcite shall be kinetically modeled. The general syntax within the keyword KINETICS is as shown in Table 25. [Pg.100]

The input file for the solution of this task consists of the keywords SOLUTION, EQUILIBRIUM PHASES, KINETICS, RATES, and SELECTEDOUTPUT. In the KINETICS block the total time in seconds and the number of steps must be defined by the sub key word -step. This step is only done once and it does not matter for which mineral. Numerical problems must be solved by choosing suitable parameters for -tol and -step divide. [Pg.171]

In rocket technology, the ratio between the burning surface of the propellant and the smallest cross-section of the nozzle. It determines the resultant pressure in the combustion chamber of the rocket (other relevant keywords -> Burning Rate, - Gas Jet Velocity - Rocket, Solid Propellant Rocket, Specific Impulse, - Thrust). [Pg.329]

Figure 1 Reports of novel natural products from marine macroalgae since 1980. The search was conducted using Marinlit and ISI Web of Science, limiting output to chemistry journal research articles and notes, using a number of keywords. Hits were verified to ensure that natural products reported were new and discoveries were not double-counted. This figure may underrepresent the actual discovery rate, if natural products were reported in nonchemistry journals and/or if keywords were different from those used for the literature search. Tadoma is a method of communication used by a few people in the deaf-blind community and is of theoretical importance for the development of tactual auditory substitution devices. While sign language requires training by both sender and receiver, in Tadoma, the sender speaks normally. The trained receiver places his or her hands on the face and neck of the sender to monitor lip and jaw movements, airflow at the lips, and vibration of the neck (Reed et al., 1992). Experienced users achieve 80% keyword recognition of everyday speech at a rate of 3 syllables per second. Using no instrumentation, this is the highest speech communication rate recorded for any tactual-only communication system. [Pg.721]
