Write a short BASIC program to solve for AB above. Solve for BA. Do AB and BA commute Solve the same problem using Mathcad. [Pg.35]

Both problems can be solved by hand, by writing a short BASIC program, or by Mathcad as follows ... [Pg.35]

BASIC programs refened to in the text can be found at the Wiley website (www.wiley.com). They were written by the author and may be copied and modified in any way you please. [Pg.340]

Phosphate-cycle programs, which first became available at the turn of the twentieth century and were researched and formalized in the 1920s, have gradually replaced the carbonate-cycle programs. Formulation developments include combined phosphate-carbonate cycle programs, which incorporate the best of both basic programs while minimizing the problems associated with carbonate breakdown. [Pg.418]

A repetitious but straightforward Basic program for solving this axial dispersion problem follows ... [Pg.341]

The data logger can be used in background or real time mode. In background mode the data logger stores the data in it s own internal memory until the computer asks for it. In real time mode, the data logger simply responds to commands from the computer. In both cases, the data logger is controlled by a short BASIC program resident in it s own non-volatile RAM. [Pg.12]

In this paper a simple BASIC program for calculating pre-gel and post-gel properties of thermoset coatings has been presented. The program is based on the work of Miller and Macosko and has been extended to incorporate two independent crosslinking reactions. In... [Pg.201]

Non-linear parameter estimation is far from a trivial task, even though it is greatly simplified by the availability of user-friendly program packages such as a) SIMUSOLV (Steiner et al., 1986), b) ESL, c) a set of BASIC programs (supplied with the book of Nash and Walker-Smith, 1987) or d) by mathematical software (MATLAB). ISIM itself does not supply these advanced features, but ISIM programs can easily be translated into other more powerful languages. [Pg.114]

Born in February, 1980, Cathy s daughter Kelly never had a chance at a normal life her abuse started just as early as her mothers. A Lt. Col. Michael Aquino used many NASA bases as a site for further conditioning O Brien as a Presidential Model. After the basic programming would be completed, O Brien and later her daughter Kelly, would be sent to what was called " Charm School," in Youngstown, Ohio. ... [Pg.14]

Excel does not provide functions for the factor analysis of matrices. Further, Excel does not support iterative processes. Consequently, there are no Excel examples in Chapter 5, Model-Free Analyses. There are vast numbers of free add-ins available on the internet, e.g. for the Singular Value Decomposition. Alternatively, it is possible to write Visual Basic programs for the task and link them to Excel. We strongly believe that such algorithms are much better written in Matlab and decided not to include such options in our Excel collection. [Pg.5]

Within the Parameter Study Block, the algorithm is designed to test whether solubility has been exceeded or not. As a result the same model generated by ECES can be used to predict HC1 vapor pressures over unsaturated solutions of FeC12-HCl-H20 without modifying the basic program created by ECES. In a paper by Chen (17) some limited experimental data was presented on the vapor pressure of HC1 over ferrous chloride system. [Pg.244]

Appendix 6 contains a basic program which Eq. 2.34, to generate bubble radius-time curves for various values of P and R. If this programme, or one similar to it, is used... [Pg.48]

NB. It is not possible to faithfully reproduce Fig. 2.23 using the basic program outlined in Appendix 6. The program is based upon Eq. 2.34 where the damping effects of viscosity and temperature upon the bubble wall have been neglected and r has been assumed to be less than R. )... [Pg.50]

The basic program performs the function of using the existing estimates of component flows and stream enthalpy values to predict a new stage temperature and the flows of components from the stage. This is accomplished partly by calculation in the basic program and partly by calling for calculation in various subroutines. [Pg.297]

At the beginning of the basic program, the arbitrarily chosen functions for calculation of component equilibrium constants and component enthalpies are shown ... [Pg.297]

The first step in the basic program is to call subroutine input which reads in the program specifications. Next, the iteration counter, iterat, and a calculational variable, kinven, are set to zero. The amount of each component entering the system of columns is summed up in sumfd(i) where the subscript (i) refers to component. Subscript (j) refers to stage, and subscript (k) refers to column. Also the total feed of all components is summed in totfd. [Pg.297]

The first step in the basic program is to call subroutine input. The subroutine serves two purposes to bring in the data defining the problem, and to set up the conditions under which the first iteration will be calculated. [Pg.304]

Any reboiler is calculated in the subroutine written specifically for this purpose. The subroutine first checks the variable flfees which is the total mass input to the reboiler. If flfees is zero, the exit streams from the reboiler are set to zero, it is noted that the problem has been altered, and the calculation returns to the basic program. [Pg.305]

If FLFEES is not zero, the value of jretyp is examined to find which of either the reboiler vapor or bottom liquid has been set in the problem description. If reboiler vapor has been set, the program examines flfees to see if it is less than the fixed amount of reboiler vapor, fixrv. If so, all of FLFEES is taken as reboiler vapor, the bottom liquid is set at zero, KALTER is set to 1, the temperature is determined by a dewpoint calculation on the reboiler vapor, and the calculation returns to the basic program. On the other hand, if flfees is more than large enough to supply FIXRV, the remainder is taken as bottom liquid and the temperature and compositions are obtained by calculation of a flash for which the total vapor and total liquid are known (isovfl). If the bottom liquid is specified, exactly the same procedure is followed except that in the case of a mass input less than the specified bottom liquid, fixbl, all of the input... [Pg.305]
