The organizing committee extends a cordial invitation to participate in International conference on Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Analysis (AC CA-05) which is hold in scenic city of Kyiv, Ukraine, from. Septemher 12 to 18,2005. Tills conference belongs to die series of Ukrainian conferences in analytical chemistry established in 1970 by Ukrainian chemical society and chemical division of Ukrainian Academy of. Sciences. AC CA-05 is a 7 conference in analytical chemistry in Ukraine and it is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist, Anatoly K. Babko for his expertise in analytical chemistry and in the chemistry of complex compounds. Tlie current conference is organised by Analytical Scientific Council at Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under collaboration with European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuClicMS) and sponsored by Intemational Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (lUPAC) and by the Intemational Association for the Promotion of Co-operation with Scientists from the New Independent States of the Eormer Soviet Union (INTAS). 

Harmonisation activities are overseen by a steering committee comprising representatives of each of the six parties, together with observers from the WHO, the European Eree Trade Association (EFTA) and Canada. The Committee meet at least twice each year, with the location rotating between the three regions. The committee also organises major international conferences on harmonisation that are held every 2 years.

As a further activity the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) in co-operation with the OECD organised an international conference in Vienna in November 2003, which was called "Experiences and Perspectives of Service-oriented Strategies in the Chemicals Industry and Related Areas". The conference was attended by around 100 participants from 16 countries. The conference gave an excellent overview about international approaches how to introduce service elements into the chemical business. The participants comprised representatives from authorities, the chemical industry, in particular down stream users, process engineers and economists along with representatives from academia.

The present volume is based on the proceedings of the international conference entitled Biodiversity A Source of New Leads for the Pharmaceutical and Agrochemical Industries held at the University of St. Andrews in.September 1999. This was organised by the Biotechnology Group of the Industrial Division of The Royal Society of Chemistry, as was the preceding meeting on Phytochemical Diversity held at the University of Sussex in 1996. Whereas the primary topic of the earlier conference was industrially useful plant products, the current volume is of wider scope and includes substances derived from microbial, marine and plant sources. 

I would like to start by congratulating Professor Inui, Chairman of the Organising Committee, and all those concerned on opening the Fourth International Conference on CO2 Utilization, and to express my deep admiration for all the hard work everyone has done to prepare for the conference. I would also like to express my welcome to all the participants who have traveled to Japan from around the world to be here today. 

The importance of contact and surface effects in modern engineering and their combined effects led the organisers to reconvene this 9th International Conference, which covers two related topics Computational Methods and Experiments in Contact Mechanics and Surface Effects. 

This book contains papers presented at the third international conference on the Simulation of Electrochemical Processes held in Bologna, Italy in 2009. The meeting was organised by the Wessex Institute of Technology. 

In light of the IAEA plan to organise an international conference on Non-electric Applications of Nuclear Power Seawater Desalination, Hydrogen Production and Other Nuclear Applications in mid-2007, the participants recommended that the NEA Nuclear Science Committee organise its fourth meeting on the Nuclear Production of Hydrogen in 2008.

Dr. Toy has also been active internationally. Tpart from belonging to the Royal Society of London, the Chinese-American Chemical Society, and being a former member of the Association of German Chemists, he was for years a member of the Scientific Board of the International Conference on Ihosphorus Chemistry and served as Associate Technical Director in the organisation of the NRC/ACS workshop to Egypt. After his retirement he presented a series of lectures at the Research Institute of Elemental Organic Chemistry at Nankai University in Tientsin. He also lectured at various other research institutes in China at the same time as his mother country, China, was opening ip to the outside world.

This book derives from presentations made at an International one-day conference organised by the Speciality Chemicals Sector of the Industrial Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and by the Paint Research Association, on 4 September 2002 held at The Heath, Runcorn, Cheshire, UK. The conference follows on four years after the previous RSC conference on this topic and updates on this advancing field with the recent developments. The Thermal Methods Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry, which was founded in 1965, has a tradition of education in thermal analysis dating back to its first residential thermal analysis school held at the Cement and Concrete Research Association in 1968. The Group has continued to be at the forefront of thermal education through the organisation of schools, specialist meetings and both national and international conferences. 

Combined Proceedings of the First and Second International Conference on Biopolymer Technology, organised by the International Centre of Biopolymer Technology, held in Coimbra, Portugal on September 29-October 1, 1999 and in Ischia (Naples), Italy on October 25-27, 2000... 

As both Western and Eastern Bloc countries are members of IAEA, it was clearly the ideal body to organise an international conference on the Chenobyl accident. In fact, most of the technical information about the accident in these papers stems from the report by the USSR State Committee on the Utilization of Atomic Energy to the special meeting of IAEA experts and other invited delegates, held in Vienna during 25-29 August, 1986. 

Now such a possibility exists, but it can be realised on the basis of a wide international cooperation only. In this connection, I see as very promising the idea of using the potential of the defence conversion industries for solving the extremely complicated problem of sea-dumped chemical munitions. This idea has been advocated by the Russian conference organiser - Conversion for the Environment Foundation. 

The 3rd International Symposium and Pakistan - U.S. Binational Workshop on Natural Products Chemistry, which was organised in Karachi in January 1988 served to illustrate the frontiers of natural product chemistry as they stand today. The distinguished scientists who participated in the Symposium and presented Plenary lectures reflect the high standards of chemistry that was presented during this conference, as in the previous two conferences organised by us in Karachi in 1984 and 1986. 

International standards for ADR reporting have been developed since the late 1980s through the Council for the International Organisation of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) and International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) - see Chapter 6.
