HF treatment

Benzyl carbamates of pyrrole-type nitrogens can be cleaVfed with nucleophilic reagents such as hydrazine hydrogenation and HF treatment are also effective. ... [Pg.336]

Glycosyl fluorides have also been prepared by treatment of per-O-acyl or partially 0-acylated sugars with hydrogen fluoride [liquid HF (for example, see Refs. 38 and 39) or HF in acetic acid or dichloromethane], as exemplified by 2,3,4-tri-O-benzyl-a-D-xylopyranosyl (18), a-D-glucopyranosyl (19), tetra-O-pivaloyl-a-D-glucopyranosyl (20), and 2,3,5-tri-O-acetyl-D-xylofur-anosyl fluorides (21) (see Table 1). Frequently, HF treatment - leads to... [Pg.95]

Heart failure is more prevalent and associated with a worse prognosis in African-Americans compared to the general population.1 Unfortunately, deficiencies in disease prevention, detection, and access to treatment are well documented in minority populations. African-Americans and other races are underrepresented in clinical trials, compromising the extrapolation of results from these studies to ethnic subpopulations. The influence of race on efficacy and safety of medications used in HF treatment has received additional attention with... [Pg.51]

Hydrolysis of polyamide-based formulations with 6 N HC1 followed by TLC allows differentiation between a-aminocaproic acid (ACA) and hexamethylenedi-amine (HMD) (hydrolysis products of PA6 and PA6.6, respectively), even at low levels. The monomer composition (PA6/PA6.6 ratio) can be derived after chromatographic determination of the adipic acid (AA) content. Extraction of the hydrolysate with ether and derivatisa-tion allow the quantitative determination of fatty acids (from lubricants) by means of GC (Figure 3.27). Further HC1/HF treatment of the hydrolysis residue, which is composed of mineral fillers, CB and nonhydrolysable polymers (e.g. impact modifiers) permits determination of total IM and CB contents CB is measured quantitatively by means of TGA [157]. Acid hydrolysis of flame retarded polyamides allows to determine the adipic acid content (indicative of PA6.6) by means of HPLC, HCN content (indicative of melamine cyanurate) and fatty acid (indicative of a stearate) by means of GC [640]. Determination of ethylene oxide-based antistatic agents... [Pg.154]

MOPAC is a general-purpose semiempirical molecular orbital program for the study of chemical structures and reactions. It is available in desktop PC running Windows, Macintosh OS, and Unix-based workstation versions. It uses semiempirical quantum mechanical methods that are based on Hartree-Fock (HF) theory with some parameterized functions and empirically determined parameters replacing some sections of the complete HF treatment. The approximations in... [Pg.146]

Most of the work with alumina was done, however, attempting to elucidate the nature of the catalytically active sites in dehydrated alumina. The catalytic activity of alumina is enhanced by treatment with hydrofluoric acid. Oblad et al. (319) measured a higher activity in the isomerization of 1- and 2-pentene. Webb (339) studied the effect of HF treatment on ammonia adsorption by alumina. There was no difference in the capacity. However, the ammonia was more easily desorbed at a given temperature from the untreated sample. Apparently, the adsorption sites grew more strongly acidic by the treatment. No NH4+ ions, only NHj molecules were detected by their infrared spectra, indicating that the ammonia was bound by Lewis acids rather than Bronsted acids. [Pg.256]

Vasodilators can be considered as symptom relievers in this stage. However they are not the main agents for HF treatment because a reduction of mortality has not been established. A combination of hydralazine and a nitrate might be a reasonable strategy if HF symptoms are persistent despite ACE-I and -blocker combination therapy. If this ACE-I and -blocker combination is contra-indicated or is not tolerated. Vasodilators can be used without them. [Pg.596]

Once vasodilatation was considered to be a good strategy, as it improves HF symptoms. However later studies showed that the disease itself was not influenced. The accent of HF treatment has moved to progression prevention with rigorous suppression of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system. Therapy with /3-blockers was also proven to be effective for the reduction of mortality. These treatments should be started early and the evaluation of their effectiveness in individual patients is difficult. As brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is produced by the heart and more BNP is released in heart failure, the measurement of BNP in the blood has become popular as surrogate marker for the severity of heart failure and for the response of treatment for heart failure. [Pg.597]

When H-Cys(Acm)-Arg-Gly-Asp-Phe-Cys(Acm)-NH2, prepared from the same protected peptide resin by HF treatment, was subjected to I2 oxidation in soln, the peptide and other reagents could not be separated, and the desired product was not obtained. [Pg.113]

More recently, 4-methylbenzyl 25 and 4-methoxybenzyl (Mob) protection17 was proposed for the selenol group. The 4-methylbenzyl group is introduced by reacting selenocysteine with a-bromo-p-xylene following essentially the procedure for the preparation of the related cysteine derivative. 25 This type of protection is applied in combination with the Boc/Bzl strategy and its removal is achieved by HF treatment in the presence of 15% anisole and 2.5% ethyl methyl sulfide at 0°C in one hour. Unfortunately, experimental details were not reported by Oikawa et al. 25 ... [Pg.216]

It is, however, for the transition metals themselves that DFT has proven to be a tremendous improvement over HF and post-HF methods, particularly for cases where tlie metal atom is coordinatively unsaturated. The narrow separation between filled and empty d-block orbitals typically leads to enormous non-dynamical correlation problems with an HF treatment, and DFT is much less prone to analogous problems. Even in cases of a saturated coordination sphere, DFT methods typically significantly ouqierform HF or MP2. Jonas and Thiel (1995) used the BP86 functional to compute geometries for the neutral hexacarbonyl complexes of Cr, Mo, and W, the pentacarbonyl complexes of Fe, Ru, and Os, and the tetracarbonyl... [Pg.291]

Chemical analysis of the HF Treatment System Sludge Cake ( 18) indicates that this material is considered to be extremely hazardous solely because of its arsenic concent. Waste Extraction Tests (WET) indicate that this arsenic is in an extremely inert form and that even in its elevated concentration it produces a WET test result with a non-hazardous leachate. Our conclusion is that a 50 percent reduction in arsenic concent in the sludge cake would produce a solid material classified as non-hazardous by the State of California except for fluoride content. [Pg.349]

Arsenic analysis of Che other waste streams at HP s facility completed the chemical characterization. Results are listed in Table 2.2-1 and illustrated in Figures 2.2-2, 2.2-3 and 2.2-4. Figure 2.2-2 indicates the sources and amounts of the average monthly arsenic weights chat are produced at HP s San Jose facility (Table 2.2-1 data column 2). The most important point here is that nearly all (about 94%) of the arsenic that flows to the HF Treatment System is from the Slurry Recovery process and is essentially all solid GaAs particles. The remainder is entirely soluble arsenic from the cleaning and etching processes. [Pg.349]
