Air Treatment Systems. Fabric filters and cyclone collectors are considered to be mechanical separation systems the treatment code for these systems is A06. The treatment code for wet scrubbers is A03. Information on each air treatment system must be entered individually in Section 7. The cyclone collector and fabric filter on the lead oxide mill exhaust are sequential treatment systems, because they treat the same wastestream in sequence. Therefore, sequential treatment must be indicated for both systems in column D of Section 7. You are required to indicate the influent concentration only to... 

In Section 7, columns C and E you must Indicate the range of influent concentration and treatment efficiency, respectively, lor each treatment system listed. The facility must estimate the efficiency and influent concentration of each air omission treatment system, as the stack test program did not determine influent concentrations. The facility has manufacturers data on the efficiency of each treatment system and should use this information along with effluent concentration data to estimate the influent concentrations. The efficiency estimates for air treatment systems are not based on operating data this must be indicated in column F of Section 7.

Factors that impact the cost of an air stripping system include system design, emission controls, effluent treatment (if required), and operations and maintenance. The addition of an air treatment system roughly doubles the cost of an air stripping system (D164241, p. 7).

Conclusions and recommendations is the next section. Here, a statement is made regarding the validation status of the water or air treatment system and the possible need for additional validation studies focusing on some aspect or component of the system. 

The last section of the report is a list of attachments. Because the report will be the official, complete file on the water or air treatment system validation, it must contain raw data, drawings, manuals, tables, instrument calibration reports, and a copy of the validation protocol along with any protocol addenda. The report is then endorsed and dated by designated representatives of each unit involved in the water or air treatment system validation.

With the pyrometallurgical, or thermal processes, the presence of nickel-cadmium and NiMH batteries does not, again, pose a problem in principle. Irrespective of the type of furnace used, the nickel contained in the batteries is combined with the ferromanganese that the process makes possible. However, the problem is the cadmium, which will be vaporised and - if the surface of the furnace is in contact with the air -will bum to produce cadmium oxide which will be captured in the air treatment system. It will combine with the zinc oxide which already contains numerous impurities, including lead. 

The composites described in the preceding sections are normally thought to be enviromnentally friendly catalysts, due especially to their nature and composition. Their main application is in one area of great acmality, which is the development of water and air treatment systems based on heterogeneous photocatalysis.
