The biosphere includes ecological niches where microbes peacefully co-exist with their eukaryotic host in the human this includes the concept of the micro-biome [14], which is defined as the totality of microbial organisms that co-habit with human beings. On the other hand, microbial colonization of human mucosal surfaces or prosthetic devices, often results in the development of biofilms, with significant deleterious effects on human health [15]. These are some of the challenges in infectious diseases that reflect the need to maximally utilize genomic sequence information and related sciences to better control microbial disease in human populations, and to develop anti-microbial agents with a better therapeutic index.

For some model organisms, cDNA resources are already prepared and shared in the research community. Thus, when there is a need to study about functional genomics of a model organism, a search for appropriate cDNA resources open to the public should be made first. These lines of information may be found in genomic databases and/or Web sites of publicly funded genome projects. For example, human and mouse ORF clones are available from the ORFeome collaboration (http //www.orfeomecollaboration.org/html/index.shtml). 

The collecting, organizing, and indexing of sequence information into a database provides the scientist with a wealth of information on human genome and proteome. What makes this database so useful and powerful is its analysis, which may lead to information indicating that the sequence of DNA in question does not always constitute only one gene it may contain several genes.
