Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry method

Fletcher et al. [123] used a sensitive and specific gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for the assay of primaquine in plasma and urine for studying the plasma kinetics. Preliminary studies on the effects of single and multiple oral doses were carried out. In both cases, the drug was completely removed from plasma in 24 h. The concentration of primaquine in plasma usually reached a peak 1-2 h after oral administration. The plasma elimination half-life was about 4 h.

Conductometric transducers, as the oldest electrochemical devices, seem not to enjoy wide applications due to their poor selectivity. For example, Yagiuda et al. proposed a conductometric immunosensor for the determination of methamphetamine (MA) in urine [89], The decrease in the conductivity between a pair of platinum electrodes might result from the direct attachment of MA onto the anti-MA antibodies immobilized on the electrode surface. The system was claimed to be a useful detection technique of MA in comparison with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method. 

The isotope dilution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method described by Lopez-Avila et al. [16] and fully discussed in section 5.3.1.3, has been applied to the determination of 0.1 1pg kg-1 Lindane in soil. Accuracy was greater than 86% and precision better than 8%. 

The isotope dilution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method described by Lopez-Avila et al. [16] and discussed in section 5.3.1.3 has been applied to the determination of Atrazine in soil. In this method known amounts of labelled Atrazine were specked into soil samples before extraction with acetone-hexane. The ratio of the naturally abundant compound and the stable-labelled isotope was determined by high-resolution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with the mass spectrometer in the selected ion monitoring mode. Detection limits of 0.1-l.Oppb were achieved. Accuracy was >86% and precision better than 8%.
