Epoxy adhesives should be 100 percent solids so as to eliminate the possibility of gassing and bubbles occurring in the bond line. However, dielectric heating is often used in the furniture industry to drive off water quickly from water-based adhesive emulsions. Water, being a polar material, heats rapidly in a microwave field, as every cook knows. 

Polishes encompass a broad spectrum of products, including furniture polishes, shoe polishes, floor waxes, and metal polishes. Many of these are water-based products, and cleanup entails washing with water that is poured down the drain. Toxic chemicals contained in these products and released as wastewater include chlorinated hydrocarbons, acrylates, surfactants, preservatives (including formaldehyde), glycol ethers, silver, and phthalates)32 ...

Polyurethane coatings are strong and durable. They can be found on surfaces that need to be flexible, abrasion resistant, and chemical resistant, such as dance floors and bowling alleys. Water-based coatings are often used on airplanes and other transportation equipment. Polyurethane powder coatings are also used on fluorescent lights, refrigerators, car wheels and trim, lawnmowers, patio furniture, and ornamental iron.
