The heavy-duty jacketed type (Fig. ll-62a) is a special custom-built adaptation of a heavy-duty vibratory conveyor shown in Fig. 11-60. Its apphcation is continuously to cool the crushed materi [from about 177°C (350°F)] produced by the vibratoiy-type caster of Fig. 11-53. It does not have the liqmd dam and is made in longer lengths that employ L, switchback, and S arrangements on one floor. The capacity rate is 27,200 to 31,700 kg/h (30 to 35 tons/h) with heat-transfer coefficients in the order of 142 to 170 W/(m °C) [25 to 30 Btii/(h ft °F)]. For heating or drying applications, it employs steam to 414 kPa (60 IbFin ). [Pg.1096]

In one series of laboratory tests carried out to find the optimum wear resistance of heavy-duty epoxy resin flooring compositions, a number of different abrasion resistant materials were evaluated using BS 416, employing three different epoxy resin binders which themselves had significantly differing chemical compositions and mechanical properties. The results of this work, which was carried out under dry conditions, are given in Table 9.1. As can be seen from the table, the selection of the abrasion-resistant material and the resin matrix both influence the abrasion resistance of the system, although the abrasive material incorporated appears to play a more cmcial role. [Pg.105]

While chains having molecular weights of a few thousands only form brittle waxes, polyethylenes having molar masses of above hundred thousand show much better mechanical properties. They can be processed into films, pipes, and other performance products. When molar mass is further increased up to several millions, even higher impact strengths and abrasion resistances are achieved which enable these materials to be used in heavy-duty applications like skating floors and artificial hips. [Pg.4]

Thus conventional asphalt concrete is unsuitable for applications such as heavy duty industrial floors and container ports. Clay, silt and dust in aggregates are defined in BS 882 as any solid material passing through a 75 pm sieve. The limits are 4 % by mass in crushed rock and 16 % in sand produced by crushing rock (9 % if the sand is for use in heavy duty floor finishes). [Pg.72]

The impermeable sheeting that was used must be misted and folded with the dirty side inward, and either taped shut or sealed in heavy-duty bags and disposed of. If the renovation was inside a building, then the renovator must clean all objects and surfaces. The walls must be cleaned with damp cloths or a HEPA vacuum, and all other surfaces and objects must be cleaned with a HEPA vacuum. All surfaces that are not carpeted or upholstered must be wiped with a damp cloth. All uncarpeted floors must be mopped and the rinse water must be kept separate from the wash water. Personal protective equipment and janitorial supplies — Several miscellaneous items are needed to clean up an area. Among these are plastic and metal buckets, mops, brooms, dust pans, large, heavy-duty polyethylene bags, kraft paper boxes (for broken glass), plastic-coated coveralls, shoe covers, duct tape, and an assortment of gloves. If not kept in an individual laboratory, at least one set should be kept on each hall or floor of a building.
