Rock Crushing

Work Done in Rock Crushing.—It is important, in order to compare the work accomplished by various machines, to have some basis upon which such comparisons may be founded There are two basic laws that have had attention from students of the subject—those of Rittinger and Kick. Rittinger s law states that the power required for reduction is proportional to the increase of surface. Kick s law states, in effect, that the power required varies as the volume or weight. [Pg.215]

A Type 1 recycled aggregate supplied by J.C. Balls and Sons (wvm.jcballs.co.uk /recycling.htm) was used to make concrete mixes. This recycled aggregate (Figure 11) contained crushed rocks, crushed concrete and masonry blocks, asphalt and fine materials such as silt and clay. The maximum size of recycled aggregates used was 75 mm and the average density was measured at about 2.5 g/cm. ... [Pg.261]

Rock crushing is not part of the slurry circuit but is more of a preparatory step to the formation of slurries. Crushing will therefore be reviewed briefly, as it is outside the scope of this handbook. [Pg.354]

Applications. Applications for Alloy 6B include half sleeves and half bushings in screw conveyors, tUe-making machines, rock-crushing rollers, and cement and steel mill equipment. Alloy 6B is well suited for valve parts, piunp plimgers. Other apphcations include Steam turbine erosion shields Chain saw guide bars High-temperature bearings Furnace fan blades Valve stems... [Pg.681]
