Fabrication. Acetal resins are most commonly fabricated by injection mol ding. A homogeneous melt is essential for optimum appearance and for performance of injection molded parts. A screw compression ratio of no less than 3 1 is advised and the size of the injection molded shot should be 50 to 75% of the rated capacity (based on polystyrene) of the barrel. [Pg.58]

The shrinkage in demand has resulted in a restmcturing of the carbon black-industry. Several of the principal multinational oil companies have left the business including Ashland, Cities Service Co., Phillips, and Conoco. Some plants have changed ownership. In the United States this has increased the production capacities of Degussa, Sid Richardson, and Huber. Today s U.S. industry consists of six principal producers. Rated capacities of the six U.S. manufacturers is shown in Table 13. Cabot Corp. and Columbian Chemicals are the leading producers, followed by Degussa, Sid Richardson, J. M. Huber Corp., and Witco. A survey of the future markets and present stmcture of the carbon black industry has been presented (1). [Pg.554]

World carbon black rated capacities are shown in Table 14. North America has the largest capacity. Europe, Southeast Asia, and Russia/Eastem Europe have about equal capacities and Africa and the Middle East have only small production. The growth areas are predicted to be Southeast Asia and the Russia/Eastem Europe markets. The capacities for certain areas such as China and Russia/Eastem Europe should be taken as rough estimates. [Pg.554]

Brazil has two small producers of chlorobenzenes. One producer has a capacity of 4.8 thousand metric tons. The other producer s faciUty has a rated capacity of 28 thousand metric tons, which produces mono and ortho for local consumption, and the para may be used in Brazil and possibly exported. A third plant with a 400 metric ton capacity is beheved to be on standby. [Pg.50]

Refrigeration units modified for free cooling do not include the hq-uid-refrigerant pump and cooler spray header nozzles. Without the cooler refrigerant agitation for improved heat transfer, this arrangement allows up to about 20 percent of rated capacity. Expected capacities for both tnermocycle and free cooling are indicated in Fig. 12-21. [Pg.1168]

Answers are desired to the following two questions. First, what bottom-product composition Xb will the column produce under these specifications Second, what will be the top vapor rate Vv in this operation, and will it exceed the maximum vapor-rate capacity for this column, which is assumed to be 0.252 (kg mol)/s [2000 (lb mol)/h] at the top-tray conditions ... [Pg.1269]

Each samphng method requires the use of complex samphng equipment that must be calibrated and operated in accordance with specified reference methods. AdditionaUy, the process or source that is being tested must be operated in a specific manner, usually at rated capacity, under normal procedures. [Pg.2197]

The ampere meters, however, indicated only 400 A, While it appeared that the line was not fully loaded, in fact, it was loaded to its rated capacity of 525 A and was utilized by only... [Pg.748]

As the vessel pressure continues to rise above set pressure, the spring is further compressed until the disc is at full lift. The valve is designed to pass its rated capacity at the maximum allowable accumulation (10% for contingencies other than fire, 16% if multiple valves are used or 21 % for fire exposure). [Pg.157]

Where outlet pressure losses exceed 10%, bellows valves are often considered. However, substitution of a bellows valve for a conventional valve may not necessarily solve the chatter problem since debits associated with bellows valves reduce the rated capacity of this type valve. Hence, the valve has a tendency to become oversized depending on the amount of back pressure encountered. For this reason, revision of outlet piping to reduce the back pressure within the 10% limit is strongly preferred to the alternative of installing a bellows valve. [Pg.169]

When a PR valve is relieving at rated capacity, the total frictional pressure drop between a vessel and the inlet of the valve should be less than 3% of the set pressure (kPa). In this calculation, the effect on static pressure of fluid acceleration is ignored rather, only friction loss is considered. [Pg.199]

Relief Valve a relief valve is an automatic spring loaded pressure-relietdng device actuated by the static pressure upstream of the valve, and which opens further with increase in pressure over the opening pressure. It is used primarily for liquid ser dce [1,10] (Figure 7-lA and 7-IB). Rated capacity is usually attained at 25 percent overpressure. [Pg.400]

Safety Valve this is an automatic pressure-relieving detice actuated by the static pressure upstream of the valve and characterized by rapid full opening or pop action upon opening [1,10], but does not reseat. It is used for steam or air service (Figure 7-2). Rated capacity is reached at 3%, 10% or 20% overpressure, depending upon applicable code. [Pg.400]

Safety-Relief Valve this is an automatic pressure-relieving device actuated by the static pressure upstream of the valve and characterized by an adjustment to allow reclosure, either a pop or a non-pop action, and a nozzle type entrance and it reseats as pressure drops. It is used on steam, gas, vapor and liquid (with adjustments), and is probably the most general tyqDe of valve in petrochemical and chemical plants (Figures 7-3, 7-3A, and 7-4). Rated capacity is reached at 3% or 10% overpressure, depending upon code and/or process conditions. It is suitable for use either as a safety or a relief valve [1,10]. It opens in proportion to increase in internal pressure. [Pg.400]

The opening pro dded through the rupture disk device after breakage is sufficient to permit a flow equal to the rated capacity of the attached safety or safety relief valve without exceeding the allowable overpressure. [Pg.425]

Relief Yalve normally selected for liquid relief service such as hydraulic systems, fire and liquid pumps, marine services, liquefied gases, and other total liquid applications. The valve characteristically opens on overpressure to relieve its rated capacity, and then reseats. [Pg.435]

For flow tested combinations, see a few typical data in Table 7-12. Note, for example, that using a Continental disk reverse acting knife blade rupture disc with a Crosby JOS/JBS pressure relief valve that the combined effect is to multiply the rated capacity of the Crosby valve by a multiplier of 0.985 for a set pressure in the 60-74 psig range... [Pg.463]

The capacity of a pump is determined by the number of plungers or pistons and the size of these elements (bore and stroke). A reciprocating pump is usually designed for a specific volumetric rate capacity and pressure capability. These factors are set by the application. Once the volumetric rate capacity and pressure capability are known, a designer can determine the plunger piston bore and stroke the rotation speed range and the power of the prime mover needed to complete the system. [Pg.463]

Spacer Plates. Spacer plates of traveling blocks, not specifically designed to lend support to the sheave pin, shall not be considered in calculating the rated capacity of the block. [Pg.532]
