Develop a detailed process scheme for decolorizing recycle water used in a fabric dyeing operation. Assume the operation to be continuous. Develop a detailed list of all parameters that impact on the operation of a carbon filter.

The open hollow fiber shape shown in Figure 13 is made by a unique process requiring bicomponent yam technology (145). A yam is spun with a water-soluble copolyester core and nylon sheath where the core is dissolved out with an alkali treatment in fabric dyeing.

Fabric dyes, often extracted from plant pigments, are acid-base indicators. 

Georgia Tech did not possess modern pressure fabric dyeing equipment at the initiation of the dyebath reuse research. Therefore, to determine the feasibility of dyebath reuse in the general area of coloration of 100% polyester under pressure with disperse dyes, research was initiated on available package yarn equipment. 

The latter disadvantage is especially severe from an energy viewpoint (10). Such four-cycle sequences in which no baths are reused are time-consuming (as long as twelve hours for beck fabric dyeing) and extremely energy-inefficient (16,000 to 26,000 BTU/lb. of goods) (11). 

Represent Class on a 1 to 5 scale. Highest number indicates less color change on fiber and therefore less color transfer from fabric dyes. Lower number indicates greater color change and consequently greater color transfer.

Formaldehyde is also used in rubber/latex manufacture, textile treatment other than permanent-press fabrics, dye manufacture and use, photoprocessing chemicals, laboratory fixatives, embalming fluids, disinfectants, and preservatives. Formaldehyde can also be emitted by combustion appliances, wood fires, tobacco smoke, and in indoor chemistry.
