Expander process evaluation

In the near future, within the context of our changing health care environment and research environment, there is a need for multidisciplinary approaches. The clinical pharmacist should demonstrate, according to their expertise in the principles governing therapeutics, that they are able to participate fully in this expanding process within the research environment. Thus, a hospital pharmacist would be valuable in the design, development, review, and preparation of the protocol and, finally, in evaluating and reporting results. [Pg.848]

Process map Process mapping, or the expanded version, value stream mapping, is used to graphically display the steps in a process. This visual method of process evaluation and improvement engages everyone because it is completed on white boards, flip charts, or by using Post-it notes arranged on a wall. Thermal Stresses. When the wak of a cylindrical pressure vessel is subjected to a temperature gradient, every part expands in accordance with the thermal coefficient of linear expansion of the steel. Those parts of the cylinder at a lower temperature resist the expansion of those parts at a higher temperature, so setting up thermal stresses. To estimate the transient thermal stresses which arise during start-up or shutdown of continuous processes or as a result of process intermptions, it is necessary to know the temperature across the wak thickness as a function of radius and time. The need for auxiliary heating is another factor that must be carefully evaluated. Preliminary efforts to examine the mechanism of C-H amination proved inconclusive with respect to the intermediacy of carbamoyl iminoiodinane 12. Control experiments in which carbamate 11 and PhI(OAc)2 were heated in CD2CI2 at 40°C with and without MgO gave no indication of a reaction between substrate and oxidant by NMR. In Hne with these observations, synthesis of a carbamate-derived iodinane has remained elusive. The inability to prepare iminoiodinane reagents from carbamate esters precluded their evaluation in catalytic nitrene transfer chemistry. By employing the PhI(OAc)2/MgO conditions, however, 1° carbamates can now serve as effective N-atom sources. The synthetic scope of metal-catalyzed C-H amination processes is thus expanded considerably as a result of this invention.
