Future state

From the technical and practical points of view, the efficient monitoring of rivers and water basins is a very difficult problem. This is due to the fact, that it is necessary not only to carry out a big number of water condition parameters measurements, but to follow the physical-chemical changes going on in the water as well. Such changes have a strong influence on the future state of the water basins. 

Once the initial state x(f = 0) of the system is specified, future states, x(t), are uniquely defined for all times t . Moreover, the uniqueness theorem of the solutions of ordinary differential equations guarantees that trajectories originating from different initial points never intersect. 

Adaptive Dynamics Its anticipation of future states and possibilities, based on internal models (which are often incomplete and/or incorrect), often significantly alters the aggregate behavior of the system of which an agent is part. 

The aim is to predict the future state of a coating by timely electrochemical measurements. These predictions could then be used to determine the remaining useful life, or the optimal time until recoating. A secondary aspect is that the results of these analyses may be useful in screening out poorly performing coatings from early measurements.

An old axiom says that in order to plan a route, you have to know both where you are starting from and where you want to arrive.
