Environmental policy

Increasingly, contractors are being asked to produce an environmental policy for their business. This is not a legal requirement, but clients and others working to the IS014000 standard seek to establish the environmental awareness of their suppliers and business partners. It is suggested that the layout should follow the same format as the employer s safety policy, and the following topics should be considered for inclusion in a detailed environmental policy  [Pg.139]

The size of the business is not a reliable indicator of the amount of detail which may be needed in an adequate environmental policy. The question is rather whether all the significant environmental risks have been identified and adequate control of them demonstrated. National Environmental Policy Act, 1969 The National Environmental Pohcy Act (NEPA) of 1969 was the first federal act that required coordination of federal projects and their impacts with the nation s resources. The act specified the creation of Council on Environmental Quahty in the Executive Office of the President.
