Electrical push-button

The fire protection system consists not only of a deluge system activated by the ultraviolet sensors, but also of fusible link type fire systems. The deluge system has a trip mechanism from mercury checks activated by heat-activated-devices, a manual release on the deluge valve, a pneumatic remote trip station, and an electrical push button along with the electrical trip mechanism from the U/V detectors. The remote trip stations are located by escape routes so it is possible for the operator to trip the systems as he exits the building without exposing himself to further danger. [Pg.178]

Magnetic motor starters are similar in function to manual starters except that thev are solenoid-operated, Thev are available up to 3730 kW (5()()0 hp). One of the main advantages is the convenience of electrical operation. Start-stop push buttons can be located anywhere, lien automatic or remote operation is needed, magnetic starters are essential. [Pg.2488]

Many limit switches are the push-button variety. When the valve extension comes in contact with the limit switch, the switch depresses to complete, or turn on, the electrical circuit. As the valve extension moves away from the limit switches, spring pressure opens the switch, turning off the circuit. [Pg.123]

The detailed-t eoff method can rarely if ever be used. When detailed drawings are available, costs may be estimated by pricing materials and components from suppliers catalogs or, for special items, from quotations. Handbooks are available which give typical values of the labor-hours required to perform units of installation work, such as installation of switches, starters, motors, conduit wiring, and push buttons of various sizes, for both hazardous and nonhaz-ardous areas. Labor rates can be obtained from various government statistical sources or elsewhere. For the United States the National Electrical Contractors Association publishes an excellent manual of electrical costs. From the complete plans and specifications, the estimator can take off materials, estimate the labor cost, apply appropriate factors for labor efficiency, productivity, and local conditions, and achieve good results. [Pg.696]

SO that a prism-shaped well is formed between the plate of the eyepiece and the glass slide. The instrument has a cord by which it is attached to an electrical outlet. If the push-button on the base of the instrument is pressed, and observation is made through the aperture of the eyepiece, an illuminated scale appears. The graduations on the scale are divided at 1.516 by an arrow. This point corresponds to the refractive index of the glass in the eyepiece. [Pg.84]

In addition the electrical components inside the enclosure may be of the sparking type e.g. commutators for DC motors, local control stations with push buttons, relay boxes. [Pg.255]

Control System. The operation of the reactor unloading mechanism is electrohydraulically controlled. The power that operates the mechanism is hydraulic. The flows in the hydraulic system are governed by soleiioid-operated valves. The valve solenoids are operated by push-button switches in. the various electrical control circuits. These circuits are interlocked by pressure switches, limit switches, and relays to ensure proper sequence of... [Pg.292]

A mechanical device that physically prevents the transmission or release of energy. They typically include, but are not limited to, the following A manually operated electrical circuit breaker a disconnect switch a manually operated switch by which the conductors of a circuit can be disconnected from all ungrounded supply conductors, and, in addition, no pole can be operated independently a line valve a block and any similar device used to block or isolate energy. Push buttons, selector switches, and other control circuit type devices are not considered energy isolating devices. Enforcement... [Pg.101]

Adjacent to the above-cited control valves and primary sensors, and at other strategic points, there may be installed in a cabinet or on a chassis, such items as transducers, transmitters, controllers, indicators, push buttons, switches, isolating valves, cable terminal blocks, and so forth, with their associated interconnections, incoming electric and pneumatic power supplies, and connections back to the control room. These need close supervision during installation and a programme of inspection and tests to be defined, implemented and recorded. [Pg.197]

The circuits and equipment to be worked on shall be disconnected from all electric energy sources. Control circuit devices, such as push buttons, selector switches, and interlocks, may not be used as the sole means for deenergizing circuits or equipment. Interlocks for electric equipment may not be used as a substitute for lockout and tagging procedures. [Pg.63]

The cabinet also houses the push-button controls of numerous electrical mdors connected to pumps and blowers in the reactor s cooling system and ventilation system. Some of these motor controls are Interlocked using relay logic wtth the variables measured by channels in the cabinet, as well as with the controls in the console... [Pg.103]
