Data acquisition terminal

DAT, Data acquisition terminal (injection), Hunkar Laboratories... [Pg.900]

Terminates data acquisition when 75% of each block of new data is acquired. The last 25% of the previous sample (of the 75%) will be added to the new sample before processing is begun. Therefore, 75% of each sample is new. As a result, accuracy may be reduced by as much as 25% for each data set. [Pg.717]

Under the second type of real time data acquisition, we have direct entry methods where essentially you are incorporating an actual terminal into the sensory evaluation booth itself. The electronic terminal would include a data entry keyboard as well as a display screen for receiving results and prompts from the microcomputer (4). This technique has been developed in our laboratories and we feel that it holds tremendous promise in terms of the versatility and the viability for expanding into different areas of sensory evaluation. [Pg.7]

The second area of progressive development will be in the area of very specialized data collection mediums. We foresee a major extension in the area of direct data input using interactive video terminals built within the sensory evaluation booths. Although this will take a fairly extensive development in the area of software, the gains to be reaped by the development will far exceed the development costs itself. A large area of research has yet to be conducted concerning the application of microcomputers in sensory analysis as a data collection tool. Studies of inherent bias, effects on response freedom etc. will have to be undertaken in order to properly evaluate the computer as a data acquisition tool. Biases based on the way the software... [Pg.8]

The crude oil delivery system starts with relatively small-diameter gathering lines from individual producing wells to a main-line pump station, from where it is pumped through a larger transmission trunkline to a refinery or other destination. At the refinery, the cmde oil is separated into gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, distillate fuel oil, etc, and the refined products are transported by products pipelines to markets, storage, shipping terminals, etc. In modem lines, all inputs and outputs are metered, monitored, and remotely controlled by supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) computer systems. [Pg.47]

Because the fluctuations of interest were—by definition—rare, it was usually necessary to continue the data acquisition process for several weeks in order to build up acceptably smooth distributions. For this reason, the analysis algorithm was designed to enable trajectories to several termination squares (not just one) to be sought in parallel an 8 x 8 matrix of 64 adjacent termination squares, each centered on a different (qj, <[y) was scanned. [Pg.491]

The initial studies described above were conducted on Raman microspectrometers on extracted human teeth. In order to translate this research from the laboratory bench to the dental chair side, the next step it is to develop dedicated systems for clinical use. A key element to this development is the use of fibre-optic probes to allow measurements in vivo. We recently reported a study in which optical fibres were used for PRS measurements [48], Although not yet fully realized into a dental probe, this study demonstrated the design and feasibility of acquiring parallel- and cross-polarized Raman spectra via a bifurcated optical fibre whose distal terminal has the two fibres aligned vertically for simultaneously collecting spectra from the two polarization channels on a 2D CCD array. Simultaneous data acquisition will allow for more rapid measurement times in vivo. [Pg.275]

A request for "SPECTRAL RATE " is made. When a non-averaging method is used> any number may be given as input to the request for spectral rate. The command decoder will then request "ENDING TIME ". The response to this will determine the time at which data acquisition will be automatically terminated. Data... [Pg.146]

Transfer of Data From Disk to Magnetic Tape. Transfer of the spectral data from disk to magnetic tape is accomplished by responding to the primary monitor s que with a 5. Each time this mode of operation is entered two files will be written to magtape. The first file will contain one record of five hundred twelve bytes, where a byte is six bits. The information written will be the sample name and comments which were given to the data acquisition command decoder. The files are terminated with an end of file mark. [Pg.158]

Allows for manual termination of data acquisition and storage. [Pg.787]

Terminates data acquisition and automatically cools the analyzer to the starting temperature. [Pg.787]

Perhaps the best way to discuss program-controlled data acquisition is to consider a specific problem. Consider the case in which an experiment of a transient nature is to be conducted and data acquired during the lifetime of the experiment— for example, monitoring the gaseous products of an explosion. The computer is to initiate the explosion and to simultaneously initiate data acquisition at a constant rate of 10 kHz. When a specified total number of data has been taken, the computer is to terminate data acquisition and reset the experimental instrumentation to the original conditions. Each data point is to be taken in from the ADC and stored in memory for later processing. [Pg.757]

A schematic diagram of the computerized data-acquisition system is given in Figure 23.35. The computer initiates the data-acquisition cycle by executing a COMMAND instruction this terminal goes to a 1 state and is connected to the ENABLE input of a 10-kHz clock, the output of which enables a 10-bit ADC every... [Pg.757]

Two other computer facilities are a data collection system which monitors remotely located data acquisition and experiment-control computers via asynchronous serial lines and the two Evans and Sutherland LDS-1 interactive graphics terminals. A PDP 10 included in the network configuration as an alternate file transport concentrator and auxiliary network development machine also performs the role of worker computer with the Evans and Sutherland display equipment. Other subnetworks have been designed for inclusion in the Octopus network to direct the on-line operation of LLL high-speed printer and microfilm recorder output facilities, to administer a second, expanded television monitor system providing 256 channels of video input for distribution to 512 additional monitors, and to control a CDC on-line tape library of 8.7 x 10 bits scheduled for delivery in 1975. The Computer Hardcopy Output Recording System (CHORS) concentrators are two Modcomp II computers, and TMDS-II will utilize two PDP 11/45s both subnetworks are to become operational during the... [Pg.292]
