Methods averaging

Here the entire historical data is used by computing the average of all the past demand for the forecast. 

The main drawback of this method is that it assumes all the past data are relevant for the current forecast. This may not be true if the past data covers several years.

True sizing from scratch is impractical since a pressure balance on a channel-to-cnannel basis, from channel closest to inlet to furthest, must be achieved and when mixed plate angles are used this is quite a challenge. Computer sizing is not just a benefit, it is a necessity for supplier s selection. Averaging methods are recommended to perform any sizing calculations. 

The "add-to-memory" signal averaging method currently available to us distorts fluorescence intensity versus time plots when the fluorescence intensity is a non-linear function of incident laser energy and the laser energy varies from shot to shot. For this reason we have not attempted detailed kinetic modelling of the observed fluorescence intensity decay curves recorded at high 532 nm laser fluence. 

Another important factor in diffusion measurements that is often encountered in NMR experiments is the effect of time on diffusion coefficients. For example, Kinsey et al. [195] found water diffusion coefficients in muscles to be time dependent. The effects of diffusion time can be described by transient closure problems within the framework of the volume averaging method [195,285]. Other methods also account for time effects [204,247,341]. 

It is important to note that the closure problem for the species continuity equation requires solutions for the deviations of the potential, i.e the /and g fields, anfi knowledge of the average potential ( ). This result is very similar to that found by the area averaging method in Sauer et al. [345], Utilizing the closure expressions the average species continuity equation becomes... 

The effective diffusivity depends on the statistical distribution of the pore transport coefficients W j. The derivation shows that the semi-empirical volume-averaging method can only be regarded as an approximation to a more complex dynamic behavior which depends non-locally on the history of the system. Under certain circumstances the long-time (t —> oo) diffusivity will not depend on t (for further details, see [191]). In such a case, the usual Pick diffusion scenario applies. The derivation presented above can, with minor revisions, be applied to the problem of flow in porous media. When considering the heat conduction problem, however, some new aspects have to be taken into accoimt, as heat is transported not only inside the pore space, but also inside the solid phase. 

Averaging Method. A drill rig and auger were used to collect columns of soil from depths of 0 to 6, 0 to 12, 0 to 24, 0 to 36, and 0 to 48 inches. The holes were drilled about one foot apart and the augers decontaminated between holes. Each of the five samples were transferred to a clean, stainless-steel pan and thoroughly blended prior to splitting into the sample containers.
