D. Cultural elements of the relationship between the individual and the clinician... 

The involvement of farmers and their attitudes towards transgene confinement protocols and the risk associated with the production of GM crops has not commonly been considered by regulators, yet cooperation between neighbouring farmers may be a fundamental requirement for transgene confinement (Mauro and McLachlan 2003 Riddle, 2004 Tolstrup et al., 2003). The human or cultural element of coexistence management is difficult to characterize and control (Mauro and McLachlan, 2003) and this makes coexistence success difficult to predict. Open communication between neighbours, either formal or informal, is an essential element of a successful coexistence plan (Riddle, 2004). 

There are many reasons to use moisturizers. There is evidence of biological effects, which justify the medical use of moisturizers. In addition, there are however also possible psychological and cultural aspects to the use of these substances, which may provide an underlying drift toward continued use. The application of a moisturizer involves extensive touching either by the self or by another person. Both these forms of touching have psychological implications, which reinforce the use of moisturizers. Historically creams and emollients have been used not only in a medicinal capacity but as cultural elements. Finally, these many aspects are combined in market forces, which strive to meet demand for moisturization and promote expanded use. 

Promoting diversity and inclusion involves establishing responsibility for these efforts and creating a supportive organizational culture. To advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace, HR must carefully attend to both structural and cultural elements of the organization. We address both of these in this section. 

Technology transfer from a more developed country (MDC) to a less developed country (LDC) is not simply a matter of moving hardware between them. It is a complex cultural process of transplanting something created in an MDC, and that embodies various MDC cultural elements, into an LDC likely to have a quite different culture.

An important safety culture element is communi-cation and consultations. Often the OH S knowledge and expertise that a company applies comes from consultants retained (Jarvis etal. 2008). Effective communication mechanisms within the organisation are critical to engage staff in safety activities, to gain cooperation and support, and to maintain positive safety culture. At the same time, clear and constructive safety coimnunication and cooperation with OPs can improve knowledge and understanding that prevents at-risk behaviour as well as enhance safe culture. 

To set the process of inquiry in motion problems must be founded in real life -the historical, social and cultural elements in the situation must be brought out, investigated and critically examined - alongside the technical elements. To provide conditions for problematic situations to appear in education is hard work - it requires close attention to the prerequisites of students, their interests and the situation of teaching. 

Since the questionnaire was still in a formative stage of development and factor analysis work had focussed only on the general section, it was not possible to determine a final model from the factor analyses but eight safety culture elements were proposed to refiect the results of the factor analyses and the themes derived from the literatme and interviews. The eight elements were Commitment, Involvement, Reporting and Learning, Teamwork, Communication, Risk Awareness, Trust and Responsibility. The first five of these elements had strong support from the factor analyses, while the last three had support from the literature and seemed to fit items from the occupation-specific sections of the questionnaire. 

Likewise, the call for inclusion of socio-technical modelling in CE will involve bringing in stakeholders to represent the social and cultural elements of design. The interaction between designers and product users as well as other stakeholders must be modelled using insights and results from the social and human sciences.

The TRIPOD model includes SHE culture elements (Reason, 1991). In an accident investigation, the model is used to classify top management commitment on a scale from 1 (pathological) to 7 (generative-proactive). We will treat this aspect of the TRIPOD model in more detail in Section 6.5. 

Refer, for example, to Panayides Venus Lun (2009), who find that trust influences supply chain performance through innovativeness. Therefore, it is important for managers to raise trust in the supply chain in order to build a beneficial environment. Barratt (2004) frames successful supply ch collaboration by strategic and cultural elements. He names trust as one of four key cultural elements of supply chain collaboration. The framework of Barratt (2006) can give implications for integrating the quantification approach with cultural determinants, such as trust, in respect of time.
