The smoothing or emoUient properties of creams and lotions are critical for making these emulsions the preferred vehicles for facial skin moisturizers, skin protectants, and rejuvenating products. Barrier creams and lotions can provide some skin protection but should never be a substitute for gloves, protective clothing, or other protective equipment. These creams should be used only to supplement the protection offered by personal equipment.
