Work with European toxic cyanobacteria was partially supported by a NATO collaborative research grant between W.W. Carmichael and G.A. Codd, University of Dundee, Scotland, and O.M. Skulberg, Norwegian Water Research Institute, Oslo, Norway. Toxin structure work on European and North American peptide toxins is supported in part by U.S. AMRDC contract DAMD17-87-C-7019 to W.W. This is said to be UK s largest collaborative research project on miniaturized chemistry, mainly concerning the use of chip technology. Members are universities, vendors and user companies (see also [45]). The consortium initiates a large, multidisciplinary collaboration, which combines academic excellence, user steering, and manufacturer input. 

The total 5-year investment in the materials chemistry programs (MC and MCCP) was more than 18 million. That number might be considered modest, but MC-MCCP accomplished two things (1) it initiated about 60 collaborative research projects in the chemistry research community, where individualism was the overwhelming norm and (2) it established within NSF a paradigm for interdivisional cooperation in the review and funding of interdisciplinary research.

A recently developed adsorbent version of ORNL s porous carbon fiber-carbon binder composite is named carbon fiber composite molecular sieve (CFCMS). The CFCMS monoliths were the product of a collaborative research program between ORNL and the University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (UKCAER) [19-21]. The monoliths are manufactured in the manner described in Section 2 from P200 isotropic pitch derived fibers. While development of these materials is in its early stages, a number of potential applications can be identified.

GM has a multi-year collaborative research agreement with ChevronTexaco to advance fuel cell technology and gasoline processing for fuel cell vehicles. This will accelerate GM s gasoline-fed fuel cell vehicle to retail customers. GM also has an agreement with Suzuki Motor Corporation to collaborate on fuel cell vehicle development, focusing on small cars. 

Several Schiff bases were prepared by condensing substituted aromatic aldehydes with various aromatic amines. The azomethines were reduced by action of sodium borohydride to produce secondary amines. These products will be used to produce more complex molecules. We invite biologists for collaborative research.
