Coating deposition

Keywords dielectric coatings, metallic coatings, deposition, ion beam sputtering, ion as-... [Pg.327]

In this lecture we recall the basic principles of the two main coating families dielectric and metallic coatings. In a second part, we describe the coatings deposition techniques and we address their performances and limitation. Most of the examples given in this lecture have been developed for the gravitational waves interferometers VIRGO and LJGO (see Ch. 18). [Pg.328]

The working electrodes (WEs) used in the CV and a.c. impedance experiments consisted of Ti wire substrates (99.99%, Johnson-Matthey, Inc., 2 mm diameter). The cross-sectional end of each bare Ti wire (0.0314 cm2) was polished with 600 grit paper, rinsed with acetone, dried, rinsed with methylene chloride, dried again and then rinsed with triply distilled water before oxide-coating deposition. [Pg.73]

Conformal coatings. Deposition of a thin film that nniformly coats all exposed parts of a three-dimensional strnctnre is known as conformal film growth. Conformality is a common requirement for dielectric films. Penetration and uniform coverage of all topography and interstices are vital and depend upon low viscosity, as well as low surface and interfacial energies. Fluoropolymer in supercritical solution might provide die required characteristics. [Pg.39]

Sugar Coating - Deposition of coating material onto the substrate from aqueous solution/suspension of coatings, based predominately upon sucrose as a raw material. [Pg.443]

Coating thickness is optimized to achieve maximum metalcutting productivity. It is established that functional tool coatings should be at least 2 pm thick and may be as thick as 20 pm. Coatings deposited by CVD are typically 10 pm thick, while PVD coatings are generally <5 pm. [Pg.311]
