Zirconium powder reacts exothermically with many other elements, including hydrogen, boron, carbon, nitrogen, and the halogens, although the ignition temperature is usually above 200°C. The reaction between zirconium powder and platinum is especially violent. 

No reaction takes place below 500°C when sodium cyanide and sodium hydroxide are heated in the absence of water and oxygen. In many of the transition metals, such as titanium, vanadium and molybdenum, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen atoms can fit into octahedral holes, and hydrogen into the teualredral holes. The fit here is estimated by assuming the atoms all have incompressible radii, and die contact must be such tlrat tire interstitial atoms do not rattle around in the holes. 

An example of interface analysis by EDXS line profiling at high lateral resolution is given in Eig. 4.29. Huisgen has reported in 1963 about a systematic treatment of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction as a general principle for the construction of five-membered heterocycles. Microbial insecticides are very complex materials in their final formulation, because they are produced by fermentation of a variety of natural products.
