While many supply chains are product centric, the mainstay of ET s supply chain is knowledge and technology and products are unique for every order. Therefore, the company also works with a large number of customers and suppliers. It continuously updates its customer portfolio to ensure that there are expected orders up to six month in advance. Similarly, it also selects supphers dynamically according to the current requirements. The main supplier selection criteria are references and observations as well as test runs. 

The products produced consist of three main types of components (Fig. 13.2)  

Commodity components— readUy available standard parts used in manufacturing of many end-products. 

Custom ordered—must be ordered for every specific product, though alternative suppliers are readily available. 

Specific components—components supplied just by limited number of suppliers (often a single supplier). These can be procured on order, or purchased from the catalog companies, though that usually costs more.

The following case histories are some of the more interesting I have dealt with over the past 30 years. The common thread, of course, is that saw palmetto was a prominent part of the therapeutic regimen. All four case descriptions are taken from actual case histories, which are much more detailed. They have been simplified for this book.

Main Analyses. The main analyses section of the software system includes those program modules that directly assist the user in either generating or reviewing exposure and risk assessments for hazardous waste sites. They include modules for Case Description, Exposure Assessment, and Risk Characterization, as well as a series of Superfund Checklist Modules. 

Case Description. Obviously, any site-specific risk assessment requires information on the relevant characteristics of the site. The Case Description module allows the user of Risk Assistant to enter or modify both the descriptive information regarding a site of potential chemical release and the sampling and analytical data (including quantitation limits) associated with that site. It also allows the user to select subsets of data associated with a site for use in any of the other Risk Assistant analyses. 

Summary of Site Information. The case description section of Risk Assistant provides a sufficient level of descriptive detail to enable a user to form a clear conceptual model of the site and to present relevant information concisely. It also enables a summary evaluation of the adequacy of the data base on a site.

The case description is typical of antimuscarinic drug poisoning. A common source of such agents in nature is Jimson weed (Datura stramonium). The patient had ingested several of the 2-3 mm round black seeds from the pods of this plant. 

Rapid loss of temporal eyebrow and eyelashes, and ocular puffiness have been recognized as early clinical signs of hypothyroidism since the nineteenth century. Eyelid puffiness may be related to deposition of myxedematous tissue in the eyefid. Cataracts, corneal changes (edema, keratic precipitates, opacities) and iritis have also been described (see Mahto, 1972 for actual case descriptions). 

The new functions a release is to contain are incorporated in the existing product during the SAP SDLC. This involves extending the existing process and data models and adding to the application documentation and test catalog. New test case descriptions for new functions are added to the test catalog. New process chains that link the old and new functions in test scenarios are included as test cases. 

The flow pattern inside a gravity separator is complex owing to the simultaneous transport of multiple, heterogeneous bulk phases, mass transfer between these phases, and the impact of various internals. Appreciating and understanding the experiences of injured patients is essential if one is going to provide individually appropriate and practical help. The two true stories retold here illustrate some of the principal forms of psychological trauma that result from serious adverse events chronic pain and depression, anxiety and other post-traumatic reactions. The focus of each case description is on the experiences and effects on the people involved, rather than the clinical events that preceded them. The quotations are the patient s or relative s own words taken from interviews. Names and other details have been changed to protect the identity of those involved.
