Many commercial current awareness services are available, and the most useful of these to the organometallic chemist is Current Contents. This consists of a weekly collection of photoreproduced contents pages of journals, together with a list of first author s addresses. The edition most likely to be consulted by the organometallic chemist is the Physical and Chemical Sciences section (originally separate Physical Sciences and Chemical Sciences editions).

Ensuring Quality of Service for external services is difficult or even impossible but necessary when they are used in conjunction with integrated tools. We extended our architecture to allow for plugging external Web Services into the CORBA based system with quality aware service selection. The monitoring subsystem was extended to observe the behavior of remote Web Services and to forecast the possible values of the relevant QoS parameters.

Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS). URL http // www.raps.org. The RAPS Web site is a good source of information on educational publications available for purchase, as well as forthcoming training seminars and professional conferences focused on regulatory topics. The Society s monthly journal and adjunct current awareness services are accessible only to members. 

Chemical Industry Notes is a current-awareness service covering activities in the chemical industry and related industrial fields. Published weeklv, this publication monitors approximately 80 leading business and trade journals worldwide. Each issue covers such areas as industrial management, investment, marketing, pricing, and production with brief but informative article extracts, bibliographic citations, and keyword and corporate indexes. 

CA Selects is a series of current awareness publications derived from the Chemical Abstracts data base. For each topic in the series, a special profile assures the retrieval of pertinent abstracts. The CA Selects series topic that is most relevant to chemical labeling needs is Chemical Hazards, Health eind Safety. This current-awareness service covers documents dealing with safety in the chemical industry, as well as the health and safety of personnel working with hazardous substances. Coverage includes effects of human exposure to hazardous substances and hazardous properties of chemical substances and reactions. The annual cost for this service is 75.00. 

The primary sources for acquiring the FIA references have been the CHEMABS base of the ESA-IRS (European Space Agency-Information Retrieval Service) Current Awareness Service, and the Physical Chemical, and Earth Sciences section of Current Contents published by the Institute for Scientific Information, Inc. These sources have been supplemented by our own scrutiny of available periodicals of the analytical chemical literature, by the FIA bibliography listed in the recently launched Japanese Journal of Flow Injection Analysis, and by reprints supplied kindly to us by authors themselves.

Mobility is a unique feature of wireless networks. Therefore, a user s location at any given time is a unique resource. Offering user services based on current, posited, or desired location is a tantalizing idea. I will address three issues location-aware services determining a user s location and an architecture for providing location-aware services. 

The simplest location-aware service would be providing geopersonal information, that is, providing information about a user s interests based on location. 

A third issue is the development of an architecture for providing location-aware services. Although I will focus on data users with smart handsets, the discussion also applies to voice users and data users with other handsets, with suitable restrictions. The first approach is a location-server architecture. In its simplest form, the user s location information is stored in a database together with customer information. This approach is dynamically populated by the location-determination technologies. The mobile user has the ability to direct any information service provider (e.g., Yahoo, Mapquest, etc.) to access the location information from this server. A number of details will have to be...
