Applications fabric coating

Urethane rubbers have found steadily increasing use for oil seals, shoe soles and heels, fork-lift truck tyres, diaphragms, chute linings and a variety of mechanical applications. Fabric coatings resistant to dry cleaning are a recent development. In many of these applications high elasticity is not an important prerequisite so that the polyurethane rubbers must be compared not only with other rubbers but also with a variety of thermoplastics. 

Polyurethanes are used in a wide variety of applications, seals, metal forming dies, liners, coupling elements, rollers, wheels and conveyor belts being examples. The thermoplastic polyurethanes are used as cable jacketing materials, conduits, fabric coatings, in ski boots and other rigid boot soles, automotive body components, gear wheels and other business machine parts. 

Can replace NR in most applications gloves, coated fabrics, cable and wire coatings, hoses, belts, shoe heels, solid tires... 

Organosols find their major application in coatings, which may be applied by spray, dip, knife, roller, etc. Typical products are coated aluminum siding, fabrics, paper, industrial coatings, etc. 

Latex applications include adhesives, fibre binders (such as in paper and textiles), coatings (such as in paints, coated papers, coated fabrics, coated flooring, and coated insulation), dipping-produced goods (such as balloons, bladders, gloves, and tubing), solid foam products (such as for cushioned furniture), and as a constituent in building materials (such as mortars and concrete) [791]. 

Vinyl resins are widely used as fabric coatings because of their combination of toughness and flexibility, and their property of not supporting combustion. Because they are nonflammable they replaced nitrocellulose lacquers for many applications on fabrics. They produce excellent coatings on metals but care must be taken in their application because, like most high polymers, they have strong cohesive forces that may overcome the adhesive forces. The entire coating may flake off as a continuous sheet if the precise application conditions have not been complied with for the various modifications. 

Unlike in the coater with steel belts, in this process equipment applicators such as wire-wound bars are nsed, which may be designed to rotate to assure a better, more uniform coating. The dip tanks are similar to those used in fabric coating, also nsing an immersed dip bar. To prevent coating defects due to shear, the dip tanks have double walls and are chilled by circulated chilled water to temperatures below 19°C (66°F), the hrst-order transition temperature. 

Application areas include adhesives, rubber coatings, inks, carpet backings, paper and fabric coatings. 

Results are presented of studies of three products for healthcare applications which include anti-microbial finishes or additives in the product. These products are upholstery fabrics coated with a clear coating that includes an anti-microbial additive, a fluid barrier system that involves a 2 mil film laminated to the back of an upholstery fabric that incorporates an anti-microbial additive in its adhesive system, and wallcoverings that include an anti-microbial additive in the back-coating. 

An important application of urethane coatings is in the fabric coatings field. The terra "wet look" was very fashionable for some time and was applied to highly glossy urethane coatings and was later succeeded by the "suede look." These types of coatings were applied to apparel but were also employed in furniture fabrics.

Recent studies have explored different mechanisms of antimicrobial action by designing hybrid nanomaterials that provide a new approach to killing microbes. One option employs a low-cost methodology to prepare nanosized copper-PANI nanocomposite materials with enhanced antibacterial and antifungal properties. Copper oxide nanocrystals immobilised in a PANI matrix coated onto fabrics for the improvement of antimicrobial activity could be an excellent application in coating technology. 

An important application for aqueous dispersions of PTFE is the architectural fabric market. This product consists of fiberglass fabric coated with special forms of the aqueous dispersion. The resulting material is used as roofs in a wide variety of buildings, especially where a large area must be covered with minimum support. Notable examples of such use are the Pontiac Silver Dome, the airport terminal in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (where 105 acres are enclosed), and many college and university stadiums or union buildings. 

Applications caulks, coated fabrics, constraction materials, floor coverings, pool liners, outdoor furniture, sealants... 

Application is also found in the coating of fabrics that are used for inflatable structures, flexible fuel tanks, tarpaulins, and hatch and boat covers. These products offer the advantages of being lightweight and colorful. Consumer items such as awnings, boating garb, convertible tops, and other products also make use of fabrics coated with this elastomer.
