Amyl aniline

It is insoluble in water and while it dissolves hot carnauba and paraffin waxes, these solidify an cooling. [Pg.770]

Di-terf-amyl aniline, an aiyl amine, is a red-colored, almosf odorless liquid, soluble in efhyl ether, ethyl acetate, acetone, aromatic end aliphatic hydrocarbons, fixed oils, mineral oil, oleic acid and hot stearic acid. It is insoluble in water and methyl alcohol, and dissolves hat carnauba and paraffin waxes, which solidify when cooled. [Pg.771]

Dissolve 3-5 g. of aniline hydrochloride in 20 ml. of absolute ethyl alcohol contained in a 50 ml. conical flask, and add 0-5 ml. of a saturate solution of hydrogen chloride in absolute ethyl alcohol. Cool in ice and add 4 g. (4 -6 ml.) of iso-amyl nitrite (compare Section 111,53) gradually. Allow the mixture to stand for 5-10 minutes at the room temperature, and precipitate the diazonium salt by the gradual addition of ether. Filter ofiF the crystals at the pump on a small Buchner funnel, wash it with 5 ml. of alcohol - ether (1 1), and then with 10 ml. of ether. Keep... [Pg.597]

Several workers have measured the rate of transfer from a liquid flowing down the inside wall of a tube to a gas passing countercurrently upwards. GILLILAND and SHERWOOD 36 vaporised a number of liquids including water, toluene, aniline and propyl, amyl and butyl alcohols into an air stream flowing up the tube. A small tube, diameter d — 25 mm and length = 450 mm, was used fitted with calming sections at the top and bottom, and the pressure was varied from 14 to about 300 kN/m2. [Pg.647]

If it is heated alone at 160°, ammonia comes off rapidly, the aniline and phenylisocyanate may be detected by their odor but they combine in large part to form 5ym.-diphenyliu ea which crystallizes out from the hot liquid, and cyanic acid may be detected by means of silver nitrate in the water with which the apparatus is washed out after the experiment. When an aqueous solution of phenylurea is distilled, aniline may be detected in the distillate and 5ym.-diphenylurea crystallizes from the boiling liquid. By heating urea with the amine or with its hydrochloride at 160°, or by refluxing urea in aqueous solution with the amine or its hydrochloride, we have prepared sym.-6i-o- and />-tolyl, di-a- andjS-naphthyl, dimethyl, di-w-butyl, di-w- and i5 -amyl and dibenzylureas in satisfactory yield. [Pg.2]

However, experimental studies of the effect upon thiophene or thienothiophenes 1 and 2 of phenyl radicals obtained by thermal decomposition of iV-nitrosoacetanilide, or from aniline and amyl nitrite, demonstrated a somewhat different experimental order of reactivity thieno[3,2-6]thiophene (2) > thiophene > thieno[2,3-6]thiophene (1). It was also found that the phenyl radical preferentially attacks position 2... [Pg.206]
