The material presented here is a compilation obtained by critically screening approximately 20,000 references from the literature (mainly from the Petroleum Abstracts Data Base and Patent Data Bases). Only materials that are accessible to the public have been included. The literature was screened from a chemist s point of view. Unfortunately several papers and patents did not disclose the chemical nature of the additives that are proposed for certain applications. In most cases it was not possible to learn the components by looking up cross-references and other sources. Papers of this kind are useless and have been omitted from the reference list. Research and procedures that are obviously not working, as well as wonder additives that are supposedly good for everything you can imagine, have also been left out. [Pg.508]

Fluorine thermochemistry itself has not been previously reviewed, but has tended to be included in more general reviews and reports, or in data compilations (141,123,151). The most comprehensive literature survey, covering the years 1949-1961 (9), supplements the N.B.S Circular and Notes (203). (N.B.S. Technical Notes 270-3 to 270-7 issued from 1969-1973 were unfortunately published without literature references.) ABSTRACT This review summarizes the literature on anticonvulsant activities of 334 medicinal plants used for the treatment of epilepsy and convulsive disorders in the indigenous system of medicine. Data on plants which have not yet been investigated for pharmacological activity are also presented. The details are presented in a tabular form. The data includes the plant part involved, the nature of the extract or fraction used and the names of active compounds and their structures wherever available. The terms used in ancient texts for various types of convulsive disorders are retained. The results of anticonvulsant activities of extracts, fractions and pure compounds isolated from the plants on various bioassays are also presented. [Pg.507]

ABSTRACT This paper provides a short review of recent developments in crash pulse analysis methods and a short review of wavelet based data processing methods. A discrete wavelet transform can he performed in 0 n) operations, and it captures not only a frequency of the data, but also spatial informations. Moreover wavelet enables sparse representations of diverse types of data including those with discontinuities. And finally wavelet based compression, smoothing, denoising, and data reduction are performed by simple thresholding of wavelet coefficients. Combined, these properties make wavelets a very attractive tool in mary applications. Here, a noisy crash signals are analyzed, smoothed and denoised by means of the discrete wavelet transform. The optimal choice of wavelet is discussed and examples of crash pulse analysis are also given. [Pg.818]

EDOC, available on just the Questel system, provides in most instances less complete patent family information than either WPI or INPADOC, but it is unique in including Japanese C-level documents and also some AustraUan data not available in the other two databases. It is possible on occasion to find family information from before 1970 in this database, though such data are not provided systematically. The abiUty to search by the EPO-modified version of IPC is unique. Its value is tempered by the fact that output does not even include tides, much less abstracts of patents.
