Water Wire , manufacture

The water based poly(ester-imide) wire enamel from Table 3 has the same resin composition as the cresol free solvent based resin 2. It can be seen that the mechanical and thermal properties of the water based varnish are inferior to the noncresylic product. It was also found that minor amounts of drawing agent residues from copper wire manufacturing were highly detrimental to the surface quality of the enameled wires. [Pg.62]

Although transformers suitable for other industrial installations are generally suitable for producing applications, certain options may be desirable— primarily due to environmental considerations. At locations subject to harsh environmental conditions, and particularly at locations subject to washdown with high-pressure hoses, non-ventilated enclosures are desirable, if not necessary. Likewise, at locations subjected to salt water and salt-laden air, it often is desirable to specify copper windings and lead wires. Most manufacturers provide standard units with aluminum windings and lead wires. Even if aluminum coils are used, it is almost always desirable to require stranded copper lead wires. This will lessen corrosion and loose terminal problems when transformers arc interconnected to the facility electrical system with copper conductors. If the transformers are to be installed outdoors in corrosive environments, cases should be of corrosion-resistant material (e.g., stainless steel) or be provided with an exterior coating suitable for the location. [Pg.541]

The manufacturer shall protect the wire rope on reels from damage by moisture, dust, or dirt with a water-resistant covering of builtup material, such as tar paper and burlap, or similar material. [Pg.581]

Resistance to electron flow is measured in ohm units and is symbolized by the letter R. The ohm unit is symbolized by the Greek letter omega (Q). A resistance slows the movement of electrons in a circuit much like a smaller-diameter pipe would slow the movement of water. While all electronic circuit components have a certain resistance, components known as resistors—components that have a certain defined resistance in ohms, kilohms (kO, or 103 Q), or megaohms (MQ, or 106 Q) and are inserted into circuits for their resistance values—are available. These usually are small, cylindrical epoxy or plastic packages with leads (short wires) protruding from each end and small granules of carbon or resistance wire inside to slow the electrons. Resistors are manufactured with different degrees of accuracy. One percent... [Pg.155]

Submersible turbine pumps are a variety of vertical turbine pumps with the motor attached below the pumping unit. Water passes in through an intake port located between the motor and bowl assembly, then upward through the bowl stages to the surface through the pump pipe. Electric power is supplied to the motor by specially insulated wires. Submersible turbine pumps are manufactured for water supply and oil well usage by a wide variety of manufactures in sizes ranging from /3 to several hundred horsepower, and are constructed of materials suited for many chemicals. [Pg.225]

The utilities check is used to verify that the utility supplied fulfills the chamber requirements as specified by the manufacturer. During IQ, the as found parameters are verified against the as specified parameters on the checklist. If the as found results are significantly different from the as specified parameters, it will be necessary to determine the cause of this discrepancy and to implement corrective actions. The utilities check is a part of the site preparation for the installation of the chamber and should include verification of the power supply, such as the voltage, amperage, and wire size and the quality, pressure, and flow rate of the feed water supply. The quality of the feed water supply is a critical component of proper operation of the chamber. Experience has shown that if the quality of the feed water does not meet the manufacturer s specifications, this will lead to premature corrosion within the humidification and/or dehumidification system and subsequent problems with maintaining the humidity in the chamber within the specified limits. [Pg.245]
