When completed in 1996, the Weihe plant will gasify 1500 t/day of coal to produce 300,000 t/yr of ammonia, which will be used to manufacture 520,000 t/yr of urea fertilizer. This project is the eighth Texaco oil or coal gasification plant Hcensed by Chinese industry. [Pg.169]

The supervision of process control teams is a key factor in ensuring plant efficiency and safety. Previous research in various domains has identified the key role that effective supervision plays in the efficiency of subordinates work performance. Further, various studies have identified poor or inadequate supervision as a key contributory factor in accidents and incidents within complex sociotechnical systems (e.g., BOMEL Consortium, 2003 Brazier, Gait, and Waite, 2004). The Texaco process was first utilized for the production of ammonia synthesis gas from natural gas and oxygen. It was later (1957) appHed to the partial oxidation of heavy fuel oils. This appHcation has had the widest use because it has made possible the production of ammonia and methanol synthesis gases, as well as pure hydrogen, at locations where the lighter hydrocarbons have been unavailable or expensive such as in Maine, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Norway, and Japan. [Pg.422]

The Texaco, Polymer Cracking, VEBA and BASF processes all produce mainly liquid organics or gases that replace primary oil- or gas-based resources.
