Fluids hydraulic

If maintenance is performed, there are two principal maintenance strategies preventive and breakdown maintenance. These are not mutually exclusive, and may be combined even in the same piece of equipment. Take for example a private motor car. The owner performs a mixture of preventive maintenance (by adding lubricating oil, topping up the battery fluid, hydraulic fluid and coolant) with breakdown maintenance (e.g. only replacing the starter motor when it fails, rather than at regular intervals). [Pg.288]

Figure 2-56 shows a plot of the theoretical maximum overburden pressure and the theoretical minimum pressure as a function of depth. Also plotted are various bottomhole fluid pressures from actual wells drilled in the Gulf Coast region [33]. These experimentally obtained pressures are the measurements of the pressures in the fluids that result from a combination of rock overburden and the fluid hydraulic column to the surface. These data show the bottomhole fluid pressure extremes. The abnormally high pressures can be explained by the fact that the sedimentary basins in the Gulf Coast region are immature basins and are... [Pg.263]

Start the mud pump, running as slowly as possible, to pump fluid at a rate of 1.5 to 2.0 bbl/min. This reduces fluid friction resistance pressures to a minimum and pumps at minimum standpipe pressure for circulation. The standpipe pressure (for 1.5 to 2.0 bbl/min) can be found from standard fluid hydraulic calculations. [Pg.848]

The sections to follow provide overviews of the more common coupling types rigid and flexible. Also discussed are couplings used for special applications floating-shaft (spacer) and fluid (hydraulic). [Pg.991]

Propylene Oxide. Propylene oxide is another basic chemical used in manufacturing intermediates for urethane foams (cushioning and insulation), coatings, brake fluids, hydraulic fluids, quenchants, and many other end uses.23 The classic industrial synthesis of this chemical has been the reaction of chlorine with propylene to produce the chloro-hydrin followed by dehydrochlorination with caustic to produce the alkylene oxide, propylene oxide, plus salt. [Pg.77]

Ethylene glycol has numerous industrial and commercial applications. A major use is in antifreeze-coolant mixtures. It is also used in heat-transfer fluids, airport deicing fluids, hydraulic brake fluids, printers inks, wood stains, adhesives, pesticides, and as a solvent in various other chemicals. [Pg.1098]

Used in electrical capacitors, electrical transformers, vacuum pumps, and gas-transmission turbines. Formerly used as heat transfer fluid, hydraulic fluids, rubber plasticizer, and in carbonless paper, adhesives and wax extenders. Although the production and sale was discontinued in late 1977, it is still present in transformers and capacitors now in use. [Pg.179]
