A robustness test examines potential sources (factors) of variability in one or more responses of the considered method. In pharmaceutical analysis, chromatographic and electrophoretic separation methods are most commonly evaluated. 

Genetic tests—Examinations for inherited conditions detected through identification of difference in DNA sequences, so that conditions can be identified before symptoms appear. 

Neonatal Screening The identification of selected parameters in newborn infants by various tests, examinations, or other procedures. Screening may be performed by chnical or laboratory measures. A screening test is designed to sort out healthy neonates from those not weU, but the screening test is not intended as a diagnostic device, rather instead as epidemiologic, [nih]... 

Especial points which emerge from these studies include (a) the almost complete absence of reactivity of the hydroxy-groups of simple carbohydrates in water, which is attributed to their powerful solvation by water preventing a close approach of any other solute and (b) the ability of ester groups to interact with proton-acceptors. The refractive index tests, examination of m.p. or b.p., and infrared spectra of certain mono- and poly-esters appear to be interpreted most simply by assuming the formation of weak CH bonds by ester groups under the activating influence of the adjacent (5—0 double bond. These bonds can account for certain properties of l 2-diesters and for the adsorption of proton-acceptor solutes by cellulose acetates. 

When commencing a fractional crystallisation, preliminary tests similar to those described under Crystallisation are first carried out, and the crystals which separate during such tests examined with a lens. The crystals which form first are either the least soluble or most abundant constituent of the mixture. If a second or further type of crystal appears, its shape and time of formation relative to cooling should be noted it is often necessary to filter off the first crop while the mixture is still warm.

We found that all samples prepared were effective in initiating photopolymerization, and on returning from Europe, I submitted samples of several of these new HABIs to Photo Products Department for evaluation, but no response was received. Of course, it is difficult to develop much enthusiasm for incorporating yet another new material into existing coating recipes, as this would entail a long round of testing, examination, etc.

Two full-scale high temperature ACR experimental facilities were built at the Marquardt Co. (18). The first series of tests examined oil penetration in a two-dimensional version of the ACR operating at typical conditions. Robustness tests examine the effect operational parameters have on the analysis results. For the determination of a method s robustness, a number of chromatographic parameters (e.g., flow rate, column temperature, injection volume, detection wavelength, or mobile phase composition) are varied within a realistic range and the quantitative influence of the variables is determined. If the influence of the parameter is within a previously specified tolerance, the parameter is said to be within the method s robustness range. Obtaining data on these effects will allow one to judge whether a method needs to be revalidated when one or more of parameters are changed, for example, to compensate for column performance over time.

Our physical testing program is concerned with two main areas, thermal stability and reaction calorimetry. The thermal stability testing is broken down into two phases, initial screen and followup tests. The initial screen is intended to quickly identify any thermally unstable materials in a process. The follow-up tests examine in more detail any significant instability detected in the initial screen.
