Electronic Materials. Applications of photopolymer technology to electronic products is probably one of the largest imaging categories in terms of sales and total number of patents and publications. A wide variety of products have been developed for the production of printed wiring boards (PWB) and the manufacture of integrated circuits (IC). [Pg.7]

Table 2.1 shows the major therapy classes in terms of sales and the number of prescriptions dispensed in the United States in 2003. The top three therapy classes are antidepressants, antihyperlipidemics, and antiulcerants. They account for 39% of sales in this list of 17 therapy classes. There are significant changes to the growth of some therapy classes within a single year. This is... [Pg.22]

The top 20 agrochemicals in terms of sales dollars are compiled in Tables 11.6 and 11.7. The list shows both modern products requiring small dosages and old ones with high dosages. The former products require much smaller application rates, but also have much higher unit prices. The most expen-sive agrochemicals in terms of unit prices are the modern insecticides -cyhalothrin ( 768/kg) and Imidacloprid ( 461/kg) the cheapest ones are the old herbicides Atrazin ( 4.90/kg) and 2.4-D ( 5.80/kg). As shown in Table 11.8, the cheaper products are the simpler ones in terms of their chemical structure. [Pg.105]

Moreover, R D spending in 1976 by the industry in terms of constant dollars is at the 1968 level of 800 million, whereas, sales have increased 28.6 per cent in terms of constant dollars during this period. So, the growth of R D in the chemical industry has definitely not matched the growth of the industry in terms of sales. [Pg.70]

By far the largest sector of the battery industry worldwide is based on the lead-acid aqueous cell whose dominance is due to a combination of low cost, versatility and the excellent reversibility of the electrochemical system, Lead-acid cells have extensive use both as portable power sources for vehicle service and traction, and in stationary applications ranging from small emergency supplies to load levelling systems. In terms of sales, the lead-acid battery occupies over 50% of the entire primary and secondary market, with an estimated value of 100 billion per annum before retail mark-up. [Pg.142]

One class of antihyperlipidemic drugs is the statins. Statins interfere with the biosynthesis of cholesterol (A.103) and specifically inhibit the enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA (HMG-CoA) reductase (Scheme A.l). The statins that have been approved by the FDA include lovastatin (Mevacor, A.104), simvastatin (Zocor, A.105), pravastatin (Prava-chol, A.106), atorvastatin (Lipitor, A.107), rosuvastatin (Crestor, A.108), and fluvastatin (Lescol, A.109) (Figure A.29). All six compounds are drawn here to highlight the similarities between HMG-CoA (A.99) and mevalonic acid (A.100), and the top portion of the various statins. As a class, the statins have been extremely successful in terms of sales and effective in decreasing LDL cholesterol levels in the blood. [Pg.373]

Once the right product is selected, it is important to acquire it at the right price. Purchasing pharmacy products (especially prescription drugs) is not unlike purchasing a car in that the fist or sticker price is often different from the final price that pharmacies actually pay. For pharmacy products, the fist price and the terms of sale have an impact on the overall acquisition cost. Terms of sale pertain to discounts and dating (Huffman, 1996 West, 2003). [Pg.388]

Plants, and natural products, continue to play a vital role in modern society both as the source of conventional therapeutic agents and as herbal preparations in health food stores. In 1994, half of the top 25 drugs on the market in terms of sales were either natural products or based on natural products, now made synthetically or semisynthetically. Examples of active plant compounds with therapeutic uses are shown in Table 1.3. [Pg.9]

Polish companies have an 85 percent share of the pharmaceutical market, but only 45 percent by value. International companies have 15 percent of the volume and 55 percent in terms of sales value (Scrip 1991). In the last 6 years, western companies have achieved the huge growth rate of global Polish pharmaceutical market sales (from 28 percent in 1989 to 59 percent in 1995) (Scrip 1991) (Rzeczpos-polita 1997). [Pg.459]

More than 80% of all Americans say they are currently consuming or would be interested in consuming foods and/or beverages for such benefits (29). This is clearly evident by the 2008 consumer report of the Natural Foods Merchandiser, which has shown that the natural products industry in the USA grew by 9.8% in 2007 to more than US 62 billion in sales (30). The survey revealed that food, supplements and natural personal care products have contributed 57.9, 28.8 and 13.3% respectively to the total sales of natural products. In terms of sales growth, carbonated, functional, ready-to-drink tea and coffee beverages have made the highest contribution of 29.4%. [Pg.14]

It is desirable to support continued and co-ordinated research into organic production and the link to best practice in terms of sales. This includes research on processing, marketing, and consumer expectations and demands. Research into animal breeds is time-consuming and may be very expensive, but it should be given high priority and also be viewed over a very long-term perspective. [Pg.253]

ABS is claimed to be the engineering resin most used when measured in terms of sales volume. Mainly used in the automotive industry, its second largest user sector is the electronics sector where it is a popular choice, especially for the production of intricate parts. ABS has good dimensional stability at both high and low temperatures and ABS may be coated with metallic surfaces, for example nickel. Its UL 94 [3] flammability classification is from HB to VO. Many manufacturers, who offer different grades according to the end use, include BASF (Terluran), Dow (Magnum) and Polimeri Europa (Sinkral). [Pg.13]
