The reactor in Fig. 5 operates as follows. A feed solution containing a given concentration of pollutant is pumped to the adsorbent module at a fixed volumetric flow rate. The high-pressure cells and temperature control units are similar to the ones described by Betts and Bright (29). Samples for analysis were prepared by directly pipetting the appropriate amount of stock solution into the cell. Nonisothermal systems are accounted for by the introduction of temperature-control units into the generic reactor unit representation.
