Average temperature

The key feature of the pressurized water reactor is that the reactor vessel is maintained above the saturation pressure for water and thus the coolant-moderator does not bod. At a vessel pressure of 15.5 MPa (2250 psia), high water temperatures averaging above 300°C can be achieved, leading to acceptable thermal efficiencies of approximately 0.33. [Pg.214]

Results and parameters may be interpolated between temperatures. Average errors are between 2 and 6 percent, with the higher errors at the lower temperatures. [Pg.392]

For the present 12-6-4 potential we then have C 2 = 4Da12, C6 = —4Da, and C4 = — ae2/2. The WKB evaluation of the perturbation integral of the method of distorted waves results in the (temperature) average transition probability in the form (29) ... [Pg.52]

Wang et al. [96] constructed a Na/S battery with a sodium metal anode, liquid electrolyte, and a sulfur (dispersed in polyacrylonitrile) composite cathode and tested its electrochemical characteristics at room temperature. The charge/discharge curves indicated that sodium could reversibly react with the composite cathode at room temperature. Average charge and discharge voltage was 1.8 and 1.4 V, respectively. Similar to lithium batteries, dendrite formation was noted as a critical problem for these cells. [Pg.333]

Emissions of CH4 due to manure storage, which are fimctions of sforage time and temperature, averaged 4.5 kg CH4 m with slurry storage twice that of stacked storage (Chianese et ah, 2009a). Manure applied to cropland also provides a source of CH4 emissions but typically disappears after a few days (Sherlock et ah, 2002). [Pg.54]

Toronto is located on the northern shore of Lake Ontario. The high average monthly maximum temperature occurs in July at 26.5 °C with an extreme historical high of 40.6 °C. Relative humidity levels of greater than 80% often accompany the maximum temperatures and determine the low chilled water temperatures needed for dehumidification. The mean daily temperature averaged over the year is 8.9 °C. [Pg.7]

The previous description illustrates well the complications that may arise in second law studies when phase and reaction equilibria occur simultaneously. A number of assumptions are usually made, some of which may influence the final thermochemical results. For instance, it is possible that the equilibrium concentration of hydrogen obtained in the study by Bercaw and co-workers is not very accurate, because no may be underestimated (the cooling to — 196 °C will increase the amount of H2 in the condensed phase). Nevertheless, this error, which is constant for all the measurements at different temperatures (average T = 316 K), will probably have a negligible effect on the calculated Ar//j16 and Ar,V) l6 values, 28.3 1.9 kJ mol-1 and —5.3 6.1 J K-1 mol-1, respectively. These values were obtained from equation 14.20, which is a linear fit of the... [Pg.212]

Commercial jets generally fly at the top of the troposphere to minimize the buffeting and jostling caused by weather disturbances. The troposphere extends to a height of about 16 kilometers. Its temperature decreases steadily with increasing altitude. At the top of the troposphere, temperatures average about — 50°C. [Pg.582]

An anion-exchange method for the separation and detection of BA and SA in citrus juice required only the filtration and dilution of samples with KH2P04 before injection. The Partisil 10-SAX anion-exchange column was eluted with 0.225 M KH2P04 at ambient temperature. Average recoveries for both BA and SA varied between 94 and 98% (73). [Pg.593]

After evaluation of the net solar heat input rates to the salt water, as monthly averages (or more frequently if desired), they and the atmospheric temperature averages are substituted in Equations 5 and 6. The two equations can then be solved by trial for the mean basin and cover temperatures each month. Distillation rate is then Qbtained by substitution of these values in Equation 4. The first and second terms on the right-hand side of Equation 5 may be separately evaluated for convection and radiation losses from basin to cover. [Pg.165]

The radial distribution curve as determined by gas electron diffraction, if properly modified, is a description of the temperature average of the distance distribution in the diatomic molecule (Fig. 1). [Pg.101]

A detailed analysis of the distributions of conversion, temperature and velocities was carried out126 using a model, which included the fountain effect at the front of the stream. A comparison of the results was made for molds of different geometrical form (plane cavity, cylindrical and disk-like shapes) for the same temperature, average output and cross-sectional width of the mold. It was established that the distribution of the degree of conversion is qualitatively the same in all these cases (Fig. 4.55). [Pg.197]

The ecology of weeds deals mainly with the effects of climatic, edaphic, biotic, and abiotic factors in their environment. Climatic factors include light (intensity, quality, and day length), temperature (averages, extremes, and frost-free... [Pg.63]
