Aggett and Kadwani [13] employed a two stage single column anion exchange method using sodium hydrogen carbonate and chloride as eluate anions. These species appear to have no adverse effects in subsequent analytical procedures. Its successful application is dependent on careful control of pH. Analyses were performed by hydride generation atomic absorption spectroscopy... [Pg.215]

Apply the sample to the column (anion exchange columns, e.g., DEAE Sepharose CL-6B) and elute with phosphate buffer. Collect 2-mL fractions and monitor the absorbance at 280 nm (Ajgo)... [Pg.86]

Cs is collected from larger volumes of water on large cation-exchange resin columns. Anion-exchange resin columns loaded with one of the above-cited precipitation reagents make these columns specific for cesium. A column loaded with... [Pg.108]

Two-dimensional LC to determine anionic surfactants (types of carboxylates, sulfates and sulfonates), cationic surfactants (quaternary ammonium and alkyl pyridinium salts) and amphoteric surfactants (amidobetaines) was proposed by Noguchi et al. (1998). First column (anion exchange column for anionics and cation exchange column for cationic and amphoteric surfactants) separated according to functional group and a second column (octadecylsilica) allowed the separation of alkyl homologues. The method was applied to shampoo. [Pg.307]

Ton-exchange systems vary from simple one-column units, as used in water softening, to numerous arrays of cation and anion exchangers which are dependent upon the appHcation, quaHty of effluent required, and design parameters. An Hlustration of some of these systems, as used in the production of deionized (demineralized) water, is presented in Figure 7. [Pg.381]

Hplc techniques are used to routinely separate and quantify less volatile compounds. The hplc columns used to affect this separation are selected based on the constituents of interest. They are typically reverse phase or anion exchange in nature. The constituents routinely assayed in this type of analysis are those high in molecular weight or low in volatility. Specific compounds of interest include wood sugars, vanillin, and tannin complexes. The most common types of hplc detectors employed in the analysis of distilled spirits are the refractive index detector and the ultraviolet detector. Additionally, the recent introduction of the photodiode array detector is making a significant impact in the analysis of distilled spirits. [Pg.89]
