Sugar beet processing

Up to Harvest. Oilseed rape and field beans are used as break crops for winter wheat on a variety of soils, and potatoes are used on the lighter soils. Sugar beet may also be grown, but this depends not only on the soil but also on the proximity of a sugar beet processing factor. Four Rothamsted-based experiments compared the effectiveness of winter wheat and winter oilseed rape in their use of labelled nitrogen fertilizer. Potatoes were included in two of these experiments and sugar beet and field beans in one experiment each. Two criteria based on the... [Pg.12]

Molasses Molasses, the residual material from sugarcane and sugar beet processing, is traded in bulk, primarily for animal feed where it is mixed with fibrous residues, and serves to increase calorific value and palatability. It is not sold as a sweetener, although it is blended with other sweeteners to make special syrups. [Pg.4728]

The goal of our research is to develop practical recommendations, which help ensure the competitive manufactimng of bioethanol using the output of sugar beet processing. [Pg.264]

In the context of the worid uigent problem-the lack of foodstuff-the international community may most likely prohibit the bio-ethanol production using com and wheat. The by-products of sugar beet processing are not used directly for food, which is a relevant confirmation of the expediency to use it for the bioethanol production. In addition, there will be no need of reducing the sugar beet areas but rather of their expanding which in turn will create additional jobs in the su beet industry. [Pg.267]

The competitiveness of bioethanol production using the output of sugar beet processing depends on several factors the prices of sugar beets, the qrrality of the processed products of sweet roots and the technology of its manufacture. [Pg.270]

In Ukraine the price of sweet roots affects the competitiveness of bioethanol production from the sugar beet processing products significantly. [Pg.270]

Only one naturally occurring cyclohexanetetrol, dextrorotatory betitol, m.p. 224 , is known. It was found in very small amount in sugar-beet process liquors (58). Isomers have been prepared synthetically from cyclo-hexadiene derivatives (59-6la) and from an inositol bromohydrin (61b). [Pg.276]

Clarification and neutralization of the iruldly acidic, raw extract (pH 4.8—5.0) is done by treatment with lime or lime and carhon dioxide. Further processing of the clarified pure syrup parallels that of sugar beet processing. The yield of raw cane sugar is 6-11% of the cane weight. The bagasse is used as fuel, made into wall-board or used as insulation. [Pg.873]

Dextran naturally forms in contaminated sugar beet and juice, where higher viscosity can cause problems in sugar beet processing. [Pg.286]
