Storage tanks horizontal

Solvent storage tank horizontal, diameter 1.5 m, length 5 m, material carbon... [Pg.282]

An uninsulated 12-ft X 36-ft horizontal storage tank containing CCI4 is to be protected from overpressure due to external fire by means of a rupture disk. The tank does not have a sprinkler system. Storage pressure is 5 psig and should not exceed 10 psig. Tank is assumed to be full, k =... [Pg.463]

The majority of storage tanks are of the horizontal cylindrical type, as shown in Figure 18.1. Where ground space is a limiting factor, vertical cylindrical tanks may be used. [Pg.250]

The filling pipe should enter at the top of most horizontal storage tanks. For vertical tanks up to 3 meters (10 ft) diameter the filling pipe should be fitted at the top and then bend through 180°. This directs the incoming oil fuel down one side of the tank and minimizes air entrainment. [Pg.251]

A horizontal, cylindrical, storage tank, 3 m diameter, 12 m long, used for liquid chlorine at 10 bar, material carbon steel. [Pg.280]

Aerobic. Leachate is removed from the bottom layer, piped to liquids storage tanks, and recirculated into the landfill in a controlled manner. Air is injected into the waste mass, using vertical or horizontal wells, to promote aerobic activity and accelerate waste stabilization. [Pg.640]

V-03 Horizontal Methanol Storage Tank. 20,000 gal, 11 ft diameter, 3 1 ft long,... [Pg.105]

The V-03 is the equipment number. The type of equipment is a horizontal storage tank. It is used to store methanoi. The capacity is 20,000 gal (76 m3) and the size is 11 ft (3.35 m) in diameter by 31 ft (9.5 m) long. The tank is to be made of carbon steel and will not be insulated. It should be built to withstand a pressure of 10 psig (1.8 kg / cm2). Any vessel with a rating of under 15 psig (2 kg / cm2) is not considered a pressure vessel. No information is given on temperature or corrosion allowances because neither of these factors presents any special problem. The rate of corrosion... [Pg.105]

K. Vertical storage tanks should be individually diked. If nal, capacity in single dike should not exceed 25,000 bbls. Far horizontal slomge tanks, maximum is 400,000 gallons per group, with 100 between groups, or other suitable arrangement. [Pg.144]

A 4 in. sch 80 pipe carries water from a storage tank on top of a hill to a plant at the bottom of the hill. The pipe is inclined at an angle of 20° to the horizontal. [Pg.333]

For onshore facilities, water may be supplied from local public water mains, storage tanks, lakes and rivers. In these cases a conventional horizontal pump is used. The preferred design for onshore fire water pumps is a horizontal centrifugal type with a relatively flat performance curve (i.e., pressure versus quantity). The discharge pressure is determined by the minimum residual pressure required at the most remote location of the facility flowing its highest practical demand with allowances added for piping friction losses. [Pg.207]

The isopentane for the catalyst preparation unit is stored as a liquid in a 60-ton horizontal (bullet) storage tank. The aluminum alkyls and other required chemicals for this process are received in small truck trailers and kept beneath a metal canopy. [Pg.369]

The catalyst preparation area is positioned between the two polyethylene production units with 60 feet separating each one. The aluminum alkyls storage canopy and isopentane horizontal storage tank are located at a remote area at an approximate distance of 250 feet away from the production and utility areas. The isopentane is transported to the catalyst preparation area through a 3-inch pipeline. A remote actuated isolation valve on this supply line that fails closed is located at the isopentane storage tank. This control valve and an associated isopentane feed pump are managed by the operator in the control room. [Pg.369]

A double-wall AST of steel fulfills the same function as a diked AST with rain shield. Double-wall designs consist of a steel wrap over a horizontal or vertical steel storage tank. The steel wrap provides an intimate, secondary containment over the primary tank. One such design is the Steel Tank Institute s F921 standard, based upon... [Pg.143]

Typical of an installation for re-gasification of LNG is that it includes a vaporiser and one or more LNG storage tanks - either vertical or horizontal type. The vaporiser receives heat as required to evaporate the LNG either from the surrounding air or from hot water. In the latter case, hot water is usually supplied via a gas-fired burner that consumes about 2% of the corresponding LNG stream to be vaporised [12]. Hot-water-based evaporation is more expensive than the ambient-based evaporation, but is less dependent on the ambient conditions. The re-gasification installation will furthermore include gas controllers and an odoriser. Since natural gas does not smell odour should be injected to the gas flow for safety reasons. Except for the filling of the LNG tanks from time to time - and also the unloading LNG carriers - such facilities could be unmanned. [Pg.115]

Two fairly large dished head low-pressure 32-percent hydrochloric acid tanks supplied a periodic flow of acid to a chemical process in an open-air plant in the sunny southern United States. (See Figure 6—15.) The two rubber-lined, horizontal storage tanks were 12 ft. (3.7 m) in diameter and about 40 ft. (12.2 m) in length. A small vent scrubber that used water absorption for any fumes during the filling operation, served both acid tanks. [Pg.141]

There are solvent-free systems with 100% solids principally used as protective coatings for concrete or metal storage tanks. Such coatings are unpigmented, clear compositions. They are thixotropic and can be applied both on horizontal and on vertical surfaces. [Pg.76]

Feed Tanks (T-i, T-IA). Figure B.2 depicts schematically the process flow around both emulsion feed storage tanks. The emulsion feed tank (T-1) is designed to hold 15,900 L (100 bbl). This horizontal tank is equipped with two identical mixers and a recirculation loop to ensure that emulsion feed is well mixed and consistent throughout a typical run. The tank is also equipped with a steam-plate coil-tank heater capable of raising the feed temperature to 70 (160 T) with a heat load of 18.3 kW (62,500 Btu/h)... [Pg.371]

In the pressure-treatment process, lumber is loaded into a horizontal cylinder. The cylinder door is sealed, and a liquid solution containing CCA is pumped in. The pressure in the cylinder is then raised, forcing the CCA into the wood. At the end of the process, the excess treatment solution is pumped back to a storage tank for reuse. The CCA solution is toxic. Therefore, it can be applied only by EPA-certified operators. However, wood that has been... [Pg.489]
