Sampling kits

The sampling kit consists of the labelled urea, which is a drug a sampling straw, which is a device and a sample container, which would be considered an in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical device under EU definitions. Other examples of diagnostic drug products used in conjunction with medical devices include dyes administered to visualise blocked veins and arteries.

Have a prepared sampling kit - solvent cleaned glass vials, tweezers, spatulas, scalpels, nitrile gloves, aluminium foil, sticky labels, and pens. Once cleaned, wrap the vials, etc., in a strip of the foil, both to keep them clean and to identify them as such. 

A DSM s Monophos sample-kit of ligands as developed by Feringa, de Vries, and co-workers is commercially available from Strem Chemicals (as well as various kits of Solvias ligands, such as Josiphos). 

In 1998, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed listing the Canada lynx, which ranges across the northern tier of states from Washington State to Maine, as an endangered species. To determine the number of lynx, the Rocky Mountain Research Station of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service developed a sampling kit to be used to collect lynx hairs at more than 10,000 scratching posts in a dozen states. 

Unless stated otherwise, hands were sampled by tape lift (adhesive stub) for inorganic FDR using a 13-mm-diameter aluminum SEM sample stub with double-sided adhesive tape attached (Scotch pressure sensitive tape). Sampling of the hands and face in the outdoor firing tests in Chapter 26 employed acrilan fiber damped with isopropanol (IPA) as per the suspect sampling kit detailed in reference 190. 

A conveniently situated, modest-sized (approximately 120-square-foot) storage area would suffice and it should be smooth, light colored, linoleum floored with Formica type shelving, non-heated, and dry. (Bear in mind that some sampling kits contain flammable solvents.) The store should be lock-able and under the directed control of an appointed officer and used exclusively for the storage of suspect sampling materials for use at that location only. There must be a strict accounting system for all materials. 

A joint sampling procedure for clothing was devised and the four previous sampling kits were reduced to two, a joint kit for suspects and one for miscellaneous items. 

The revised suspect sampling kit and general-purpose sampling kit have now been operational in casework for 12 years during which time no problems have been encountered, either in the use of the kits or in subsequent laboratory preparation and analysis procedures. 

We have already noted that sample kits for clinical samples from patients may have to be designed and manufactured. Additional costs may be incurred, especially in less developed countries, by the need to provide investigators with items of medical equipment. Even in the United Kingdom, it is common for sponsors to provide random-zero sphygmomanometers, as well as equipment that would not normally be found in a doctor s office, such as a centrifuge. In Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America, even basic medical equipment may be necessary or appreciated, while communications equipment, such as faxes, modems or even photocopiers, may markedly improve the logistics of a study.

Samples must be drawn randomly from bags/each compartment of tankers and preserved as reference. Special sampling kits should be procured for drawing out samples of corrosive/toxic/inflammable/fuming liquids. 

The operator need only load the sample kit and appropriate test pack(s) into a properly prepared ACA discrete clinical analyzer. It automatically advances the pack(s) through the test steps and prints a result(s). See the Instrument Manual of the ACA analyzer for details of mechanical travel of the test pack(s). 

Samples were collected utilizing a sampling kit that featured individually sealed collection tools to avoid sample cross-contamination. For the CBDE exercise, samples were collected by personnel in full protective gear. The different sample types included soils, liquids, and swipes from a CW pilot plant. These samples were collected near or from chemical storage tanks and suspect CW production equipment. Using a "chain of custody" protocol, the samples were processed at the sample work-up station for analysis.
