Rubber flooring

Chlorinated rubber floor paints are probably the most common of the lower-cost floor paints on the market. They produce tough and chemically resistant coatings, but their adhesion to concrete is not always good. They tend to wear off in patches and cannot be considered as a durable floor treatment except under light traffic conditions. However, re-coating is a simple job and floors can easily be repainted over weekend shutdowns, for example. Similar paints based on other resins such as acrylics, vinyls and styrene butadiene are also used.

There are some applications of rubber flooring, and EPDM rubber is recommended by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency as an alternative to PVC use. 

Rubbers (or elastomers) are used mainly as floor coverings and membranes. Rubber flooring containing chlorine-based ingredients are not recommended because of the hazards involved. However, in most cases it is not true for other rubber types ethylene propylene diene (EPDM) rubber is recommended by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency as an alternative to PVC. 

The mineral kaolin is used to create a hard clay used in rubber tires for lavm equipment, garden hoses, rubber floor mats and tiles, automotive hoses and belts, shoe soles, and wire and cable. 

Essential oils are volatile substances and chemically different from the fatty oils. Their characteristic compounds are monoterpenes and esters with short-chain fatty acids. There are about 2500 essential oils but only about 100 are used. The essential oils are used especially in the perfume industry and for cosmetic articles in the food industry for creating aromatic essences in plastics, artificial leather, rubber, floor wax, household sprays and in pharmaceutical preparations because of their pharmaceutical effects, their antiseptic properties, and to improve taste. 

Some reactive polyurethane adhesives such as one- and two-component ones are particularly suitable for wood bonding. They are currently being used for the bonding of parquets and other wood flooring, mainly because of their strength and resistance. They are also being used for bonding of heavy duty rubber floor in commercial areas with heavy foot traffic [24].
